Senior Electrical Engineer-Power Systems Location: Greenwood Village, CO CLP Engineering (CLPE) is seeking an experienced, motivated Senior Electrical Engineer with a PE license to join our engineering team at our Denver location. Due to the nature of our work as a Federal Contractor, candidates must be a US Citizen. CLPE is a full-service electric utility solutions engineering firm in Denver with more than twenty years' experience in electrical utility system ownership, upgrades, maintenance and operations through our sister company, City Light & Power. CLPE offers a wide range of power system engineering services to investor-owned, municipal, cooperative, government, industrial, and commercial customers. Duties & Responsibilities: Design sub-transmission systems, substations, switching stations, and complex commercial/industrial power distribution systems. Develop concept design alternatives, engineering calculations, analysis, and engineering estimates for small-scale system improvement projects for substations and distribution systems. Develop/review complex electrical system models and validate various system study findings/recommendations. Develop electrical specifications for major electrical apparatus. Create system model for large-scale power system in ETAP. Perform various power system analysis/studies. Develop bill of material and technical specifications. Schedule and attend field walk-downs to determine project requirements. Perform field take-offs/evaluations for estimate preparation. Participate in estimate review process as needed. Update and maintain GIS database for large-scale electrical distribution systems. Perform site surveys for major upgrade projects and develop concept design, Prepare cost estimates for large-scale electric distribution and substation projects. Keep up to date with utility industry standards and codes. Enforce and maintain all applicable standards and codes for our O&M, replacement/renewable and new installations. Will assist site construction personnel throughout the project life cycle. Analyze electrical fault events, power quality issues, system loading scenarios. Assist site crew with implementing corrective actions. Project management duties: Prepare construction schedules; submit RFI to clients; act as POC for facilitating design review process and addressing open items as requested by client. Update and maintain GIS database for large-scale electrical distribution systems. Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance in support of their career development. *Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Travel: 20% to client sites outside CO Skills and Qualifications: BS degree, Electrical Engineering, from accredited university with emphasis in power systems required. PE License required. Eight plus (8+) years of work experience in electrical utility industry. Solid background with medium voltage electrical substations and distribution systems. Possess broad and in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, procedures, and standards related to utility power distribution systems. Expert with power system analysis, distribution system modeling, and protective device coordination. Must be a team player with excellent oral and written communication skills. Other Requirements: You must be a US citizen. You will be required to obtain Military Base Access Security Clearance. Valid driver's license required. Benefits & Compensation: We offer an excellent benefits package that includes medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, 401k with company contribution, paid time off and paid holidays. Salary range: $130,000-$165,000 based on experience plus eligible to participate in Short Term Incentive Plan.
