Eaton Corporation NPD Sr. Engineering Manager in Greenwood, South Carolina

Eaton’s Power Distribution Controls & Assemblies (PDCA) division is currently seeking a New Product Development (NPD) Sr. Engineering Manager. This is a visible business with significant recent and continued growth within our Electrical sector. This position will be based in the Greenville, SC area at our Greenwood, SC location. Relocation assistance is available. This position requires up to 35%-40% travel.

What you’ll do:

In this newly created leadership position, you will direct and lead all NEMA/IEEE Medium Voltage assemblies’ new product development activities. The business has recently received a multi-year, substantial investment for a focus on New Product Development, projected to drive significant penetration into a new market. You will be responsible for establishing strategic product development needs, supporting applications and standard issues, as well as manage the R&D budget/overall financials. In addition, you will hire, manage, and develop direct reports including developing talent strategies for NPD engineering succession plans.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Drive strategic programs and directly supervise the activities of reporting Engineering Manager(s), Design Engineers, Design Technicians, and global team resources.

• Oversee team’s detailed project schedules that incorporates resource management, milestone deliverables, and administration of NPD launch process for new product development activities.

• Direct NPD team on their project management responsibility for all product line development projects, including cross functional alignment with Applications, Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing, IT, Sales, and Marketing.

• Coordinate and manage global product development team, including functional reports from APAC.

• Partner with Product Manager to maintain 5-year strategic product roadmaps.

• Work with internal and external customers in support of developing engineering specifications for any product development needs.

• Manage representation related to Eaton’s strategic interests on industry technical societies.

• Take responsibility for developing, maintaining, and managing departmental and program spending budgets.

• Develop direct reports both technically and professionally.

• Drive activities that foster innovative ideas and projects within the product line. These include but are not limited to innovation events and technology roadmaps.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution required.

• Minimum ten (10) years of experience in engineering on a manufacturing environment.

• Minimum seven (7) years of management experience.

• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.

• Must be able to travel globally as necessary to effectively interface with internal engineering development teams (India, US, China) and support necessary testing at certified laboratories (Europe).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.

• Experience with medium voltage switchgear and assemblies, including gas insulated.

• Design engineering experience.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $136500.03 - $200200.04 a year.
