Reporting to the VP, Risk Management the Sr. Manager, Risk Management will be responsible to support all aspects of XPO’s risk management program, including risk identification, analysis, financing, monitoring and mitigation. Duties include management and administration of XPO’s various insurance programs: property and casualty, management liability, cyber risk, and executive risks.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Assist the VP to identify and manage non-speculative risks through avoidance, reduction, loss mitigation, or transfer

  • Manage the insurance renewal process, including marketing, submissions, insurer/broker meetings, and receipt and filing of binders and policies

  • Review insurance coverage, limits, retentions to meet company’s risks and exposure needs

  • Interface with operations, insurance brokers and insurers to identify and resolve insurance issues

  • Assist in the analysis of losses and operations to identify and quantify opportunities to mitigate cost, and manage risk reduction projects with safety, claims and operations teams

  • Manage the actuarial analysis process to meet deadlines and communicate with internal stakeholders

  • Develop and maintain budgets for claims retentions, insurance premiums and insurance related expenses and allocate costs as needed

  • Review insurance billings for accuracy, monitor spend against budget and communicate with FP&A

  • Ensure compliance with monopolistic and qualified self-insurer programs including required filings, reporting and payments

  • Review insurance / risk transfer provisions in contracts, leases and other agreements

  • Liaison with the Accounting, Legal, FP&A, Safety and other internal teams on various insurance and risk management related issues

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or equivalent related work or military experience

  • 5+ years of risk management, insurance industry experience or other relevant finance experience

It’d be great if you also have:

  • MBA or other advanced degree in Finance or similar field

  • 10 years of risk management or insurance industry experience or other relevant finance experience

  • 3 years proven success in a leadership role

  • Licensed insurance industry professional a plus
