Greenwich Country Day School Pizza Maker in Greenwich, Connecticut
The Greenwich Country Day School seeks to hire a Pizza Maker to start in August 2024. Hours are 7:30 - 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday. Rate $24-28 an hour.

GCDS Dining Halls are self-operated. We proudly prepare and provide restaurant-quality food with a focus on sustainability in all aspects of our food service operations. We have both a container farm and an actual farm . The GCDS Dining Hall team takes great pride in serving fantastic meals to hundreds of students, faculty, and staff daily. We serve a variety of cuisines including Oaxacan, Sicilian, East African, Vietnamese, and Indian just to name a few. Our goal is not to serve just great school food, but some of the best quality food found in Connecticut!
This is a full-time, 10-month/year position. All kitchen and dining room personnel must be available to work evening and/or weekend special events, as scheduled. Diversity is a core value at GCDS and we seek candidates who demonstrate a commitment to equity and inclusion.
Responsibilities Include:
Provide safe food each day to children who have dietary restrictions due to allergies, sensitivities, or religious observance
Ensure the cooking station is sanitized and prepped with the necessary tools
Prepare pizza dough daily or as needed
Monitor food storage and stocks letting the chef know what is needed
Recommend new recipes to update current choices
Cook items other than pizza but not limited to Nann Bread, Pita, Bread Sticks, Garlic Knots, and Focaccia
Cut, slice, and grill meats for toppings
Collaborate with coworkers on new items
Utilize leftover food items to reduce food waste
Wash and chop vegetables for toppings
Prepare tomato sauce, white sauce, and specialty sauces for pizza toppings
Perform regular maintenance on the pizza oven, cleaning, and lubrication of the machine
Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to lift 25-50+ pounds and stand for long stretches of time
Required Qualifications:
High school Diploma
3 years of experience making pizzas
Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
Flexibility and willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues within and outside of the department
Commitment to being part of a diverse, equitable, and inclusive school community
Ability to work well under pressure and with time constraints of a busy commercial kitchen
Cultural competency skills to collaborate across difference
