Greenwich Country Day School Dishwasher in Greenwich, Connecticut

 

The Greenwich Country Day School seeks a Dishwasher to start in August 2024.

The GCDS Dining Hall team takes great pride in serving hundreds of students, faculty, and staff each day. The role of the Dishwasher is a key position, involving interaction with students, faculty, staff, and Dining Hall colleagues. We seek individuals who are excited to be an integral part of our "all hands on deck" culture and will foster positive interactions with all members of our school community. The successful candidate will be a punctual and reliable, hard-working, self-starter who takes pride in a job well done.

GCDS Dining Halls are self-operated. We do not contract with a food service company. We proudly prepare and provide restaurant-quality food with a focus on sustainability in all aspects of our food service operations. And we have a farm!

This is a full-time, 10-month/year position. Regular hours will be Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm . Range $19-20 an hour. All kitchen and dining room personnel must be available to work evening and/or weekend special events, as scheduled. Responsibilities Include:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Rinse, and load dishes into the machine

  • Wash and sanitize all pans, utensils, and dishes

  • Clean, sanitize, and maintain the dish machine

  • Organization and unloading of dishes

  • Follow all safety protocols with regard to proper sanitizing

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)

    Required Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or general education 

  • Ability to understand both written and verbal instructions in English

  • Ability to lift 25-50+ pounds and stand for long stretches of time

  • Ability to work well with a team

  • Ability to work well under pressure and with time constraints of a busy commercial kitchen

  • Experience in customer service or restaurant preferred

  • Commitment to being part of a diverse, equitable, and inclusive school community
