Bon Secours Mercy Health Registered Nurse ( RN ) - Navigator - Bon Secours Health Systems - Eastside in Greenville, South Carolina

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for the strategic planning, education, execution and evaluation of evidence-based strategies to achieve measurable results in the perioperative environment within an Enhanced Recovery After SurgeryTM (ERAS) framework. Absolute emphasis on process improvement in patient care delivery, perioperative outcomes, length of stay, readmission reduction, experience of care, and cost savings for the Health System. The Program Lead works with minimal supervision in carrying out the designated duties and responsibilities of the position, and must collaborate with interdisciplinary team to design, develop, and implement appropriate programs and processes to eliminate identified gaps and provide a mechanism of continuous communication regarding performance within the program. Possess excellent critical thinking and analytical capabilities with the ability to translate quantitative and qualitative data into actionable plans for interdisciplinary team members. Natural ability to work in partnership with others across the organization and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and highly fluid perioperative environment. Adept at managing through ambiguity and practicing judgment to drive clarity. Strong communicator who can engage at all levels of the organization providing the right understanding of ERAS initiatives to drive buy-in .

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Education: Registered Nurse, BSN preferred.

Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience within a Healthcare organization demonstrating progressive leadership. Excellent mentoring, training, coaching and effective communication skills required.

Licensure, Registration, or Certification: Must hold a current license as a registered nurse in South Carolina. BLS certification.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provides day-to-day support for clinical staff caring for ERAS patients.

  • Communication with staff and leaders is timely and effective.

  • Supports staff orientation, training and competency assessment in ERAS protocol care.

  • Performance feedback is provided to staff in a timely and effective manner.

  • Provides care coordination and patient and family education processes across settings.

  • Conducts ERAS patient rounds to ensure a safe, high quality experience, identify gaps in care and provide coaching to care team members through Rounding to Influence methodology.

  • Understands current Bon Secours Health System structures, processes, people, and services to develop Enhanced Recovery strategies that preemptively identify opportunities for improvement in care delivery.

  • Participates with other senior executive, clinical, and physician leaders for the ERAS program to establish programmatic plans and objectives, identify strategic needs, and prioritize areas of focus for expansion.

  • Leverages data to analyze and identify patterns that drive the ERAS care delivery model.

  • Seeks and recommends potential opportunities for process improvement to improve reliability of care processes and analyzes trends that may impact cost-effective care delivery.

  • Facilitates the development and implementation of standardized, evidence-based tools to foster care delivery across disciplines and settings.

  • Drives communication and change management efforts to integrate ERAS concepts into the Bon Secours Health System culture.

  • Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of Bon Secours Health System goals.

  • Collaborates with service-specific education leaders on the development of education plans for ERAS program implementation (and ongoing) to integrate, align and synthesize evidence-based practices into daily processes for staff.

  • Demonstrates expert level skills using advanced research methodology, particularly data collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation. Advises teams and applicable service/department management as to appropriate identification of, response to and monitoring of measures of success.

  • Provides leadership as liaison between nursing, surgery, anesthesia, pharmacy, information technology, informatics, ancillary support services and administration to support ERAS implementation efforts and drive interdisciplinary process improvement while fostering accountability.

  • Ensures development and delivery of consistent internal and external communications regarding program efforts, best practice identification, and outcomes reporting.

  • Identifies, monitors, and evaluates service-specific metrics for measurable performance improvement. Oversees the development of actionable recommendations.

  • Prepares appropriate quarterly and yearly reports of performance data for individual care teams and senior leadership in support of short- and long-term planning initiatives.

  • Acts as visionary, a strategic planner and a change agent for Bon Secours Health System.

  • A thought-partner on new, innovative strategies to drive Bon Secours Health System in becoming the safest place to work and receive care.
