Job Description:
iParametrics has partnered with a leading engineering, procurement, and construction company known for its comprehensive nuclear solutions provided to the Department of Energy, the National Nuclear Security Administration, and commercial nuclear power producers. We are seeking a skilled Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineer to join our team, specializing in overseeing and coordinating I&C engineering tasks across various phases of complex engineering projects. This role involves both hands-on design work and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, focusing on the planning, design, and construction phases. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in I&C design and a working knowledge of Federal, State, and Local codes, especially in nuclear or related fields.
Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, and lead I&C engineering and multi-disciplinary design projects from planning to construction.
Execute comprehensive I&C design tasks, including but not limited to:
Control systems architecture: Design and development of digital systems, PLC, and DCS.
Network configuration: Setup and configuration of networks, logic, switches, and communication protocols.
Process controls and P&ID: Development, support, and review.
Safety Instrumented Systems (SIL): Assess and implement Safety Integrity Levels.
HMI and routing/layout design: Design of Human-Machine Interfaces and system layouts.
Interpret and apply applicable National, State, and Local codes and standards as well as client-specific requirements to prepare accurate design and construction documents, specifications, and system descriptions.
Develop and evaluate engineering cost and schedule estimates to support project timelines.
Conduct design and evaluation calculations, ensuring precision in specifications and technical documentation.
Utilize computer-aided drafting applications as required.
Basic Qualifications:
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (Power) or a similar accredited engineering degree.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in I&C design, estimating, specification preparation, and construction document preparation. Experience in nuclear projects is preferred.
Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of Federal, State, and Local codes, including Department of Energy Orders relevant to electrical engineering design.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong proficiency with computer-aided drafting software.
Ability to prepare accurate engineering cost and schedule estimates.
Familiarity with safety standards and protocols in highly regulated environments, such as nuclear facilities.
Detail-oriented with the capability to produce clear, accurate engineering documentation.
Effective communicator with experience collaborating across multi-disciplinary teams.
Benefits/Compensation: As a W2 employee of iParametrics, team members are eligible for benefits such as medical, dental and vision, and the company matching 401K plan, subject to plan terms and applicable waiting periods. Compensation for this position is hourly ($62-67) based on experience, background, and skills.
