WESTMORELAND COMMUNITY ACTION Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Site Coordinator in Greensburg, Pennsylvania
Our Community & Economic Development department is seeking a part-time Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Site Coordinator to implement the VITA action plan to offer free assistance to low-to-moderate-income people who cannot prepare their own tax returns. As Site Coordinator you will:
- Plan and organize site operation,
- Recruit and supervise volunteers,
- Promote the free VITA Program,
- Implement the Quality Site Requirements, and
- Ensure all IRS and Westmoreland Community Action guidelines are followed.
Westmoreland Community Action (WCA) is a non-profit organization that works to connect individuals and families to opportunities and resources throughout the community to improve their quality of life and help to reduce poverty in the community. This is accomplished through housing, counseling, support, education, intervention, collaborations, partnerships, information, referrals, and networking.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED. Training and/or certifications in accounting practices, financial literacy and or tax preparation preferred.
- IRS Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced certification.
- Knowledge and understanding of issues facing the low-income population and the programs available to promote self-sufficiency preferred.
- Ability to deal with volunteers, stakeholders, partners and the public in a helpful and supportive manner.
- Basic research skills, computer competency (i.e., MS Word and MS Excel)
- Ability to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends.
- Possess or able to obtain child abuse history, PA state police criminal history record, fingerprints based criminal history, and national sex offender registry clearances.
- Must possess valid PA driver's license and agency mandated car insurance. Driver's history will be reviewed.

- Time and a half for holidays worked.
VITA Site Coordinator rate depending on experience.
