North Carolina Agriculture & Technical State Unive Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Greensboro, North Carolina

Description:

The incumbent will carry out research in collaboration with researchers in the Center of Excellence in Biotechnology (CoEB) at NC A&T , Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine ( WFIRM ), and the U.S Department of Defense (DoD) to develop an integrated , generalizable MOE -based microfluidics system capable of “smart” drug delivery and real-time monitoring of signaling dynamics, metabolomics profiles, and other key cellular parameters.

The specific direction of the research will be decided in consultation with CoEB researchers and by candidate’s independent judgment, original thinking and expertise.

The candidate is required to publish research results in reputable journals.

The incumbent will share with CoEB researchers monitoring of graduate and undergraduate students and their training in NC A&T and Wake Forest laboratories; will assist CoEB director with organization and operation of the Biotechnology Undergraduate Scholars program ( BSP ) and other student summer and outreach activities.

This will include generation of a calendar of events for the BSP students and for summer research students.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit:

Primary function of the Biotechnology Center is to deliver the research on microengineered organ equivalents (MOEs), and conduct educational programs to train graduate and undergraduate students in the area of effects of threat agents and toxic materials on MOEs.

This work is funded by the U.S Department of Defense through a cooperative agreement.

Ph.D. in an engineering or science discipline

Preferred:

Some experience in conducting independent research is desirable but not required.
