Stoneleigh-Burnham School, an independent girls’ boarding and day school for grades 7-12, seeks a part-time Softball Coach.
Located in the Pioneer Valley, a short drive from the Five College Consortium (UMass Amherst, Smith, Mount Holyoke, Hampshire and Amherst College), Stoneleigh-Burnham School is the only girls’ school in New England to offer the IB Diploma Programme and attracts students from the local area and around the world. Position Overview: Stoneleigh-Burnham School is seeking a passionate and experienced Softball Coach for our Athletics Department with the goal of elevating the level of our program. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing training programs, coaching and guiding athletes, while inspiring a positive team culture. Must possess a strong soccer background and possess excellent leadership and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
-Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for athletes, focusing on skill development, strength and conditioning, and game strategies.
-Provide individualized coaching and instruction to athletes during practices, games, and competitions.
-Evaluate athletes’ performance and provide feedback for improvement.
-Foster a positive and supportive team environment, emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, and social-emotional development.
-Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administrators regarding team expectations, schedules, and performance.
-Work with the Athletic Director to ensure compliance with all league rules and regulations, as well as safety protocols and procedures.
-Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes, promoting integrity, high standards, and respect on and off the field.
-Attend tournaments and showcases for the purpose of admissions recruitment.
-Do outreach via calls and email for the purpose of admission recruitment
-Responsible for uniform and equipment distribution, return and storage.
Qualifications:
-Previous coaching experience at the high school varsity, collegiate, or club level.
-Possess a thorough understanding of softball techniques, strategies, and rules, with the ability to impart this knowledge effectively to student-athletes.
-Strong leadership and motivational skills, with the ability to inspire and mentor athletes.
-CPR and First Aid certification required (training available).
-Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate practice and game schedules.
