Labcorp Manager I - Anatomic Pathology Operations in Greenfield, Indiana

Position Summary

The Manager I is responsible for leading the technical staff in the day-to-day study activities including handling all client visits, regulatory audits, and cross-department situations to deliver on the workload, execute strategic goals, and support the growth and development of the team.

Candidates given best consideration will have the following qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the Post Life processes, regulatory requirements and the scientific techniques necessary for the studies.

  • 8 years of related lab experience and 3-5 years management experience.

  • Ability to help foster a high professional standard and encourage positive staff relationships.

  • Strong critical thinking skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Education/Experience

  • Associate's Degree minimum requirement, Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences preferred. Experience may be substituted for education.

Essential Duties:

  • Identifies and suggests resolution to scientific and people problems within the department with little direct involvement by the senior manager/associate director/director.

  • Provides technical guidance and oversight in the Anatomic Pathology laboratory and other groups.

  • Ensures that all necropsy and histologic procedures are completed and documented according to SOPs, GLPs, appropriate regulatory agency guidelines, and client specifications for all assigned studies.

  • Reports and addresses all animal care concerns and becomes involved in the resolution and appropriate corrective action, when necessary.

  • Directs and coordinates space, materials, equipment, labor and other resources with other site managers to meet department objectives and advises upper management of needs or changes required.

  • Responsible for the financial integrity of the anatomic pathology operations cost centers; investigates and reports plan deviations to department senior manager or associate director.

  • Coordinates administration of the training program for Lab Operations to ensure consistency of results.

  • Enforces department safety programs, coordinates with the environmental, health and safety department.

  • Provides, analyzes and updates metrics. Understands financial statements and impact on department.

  • Provides mentoring, coaching, and training of supervisors, as needed.

  • Works with counterparts in North America and Europe to optimize procedures across sites. Supports Lab Operations North America initiatives, working closely with managers and/or supervisors for all pathology sites.
