The Raymond Energy Storage Systems team is an expanding group of enthusiastic engineers, who are driven by the opportunity to develop and implement advanced energy technology in the material handling industry. Our team has an interest in lithium-ion battery systems, energy storage, and charging technologies. The team works to support development of sustainable, clean energy solutions to reduce the carbon footprint and environmental impact of our customers. Our team is involved in all aspect of the development which allows for many opportunities for professional development and advancement.

About the position:

We’re looking for a Product engineer to join our Energy department. This role supports released products, customer applications, and field issue resolution. Working in coordination with the Energy Storage Solutions (ESS) new product development team, applications engineering, and field service. You will:

  • Resolve customer complaints and Dealer concerns with launched products.
  • Act as a liaison to applications, service, and telematics engineering departments.
  • Lead Customer Product Health Teams (CPHT) activities for ESS.
  • Support development of architecture/technology plans for future ESS programs.
  • Recommend changes in current and future project direction(s) in response to changing business requirements.
  • Engage in field support of applications engineering for customer launch success.
  • Investigate/troubleshoot issues, establish root cause, and make adaptations/modifications to existing designs for:

  • Mechnical systems and enclosures

  • Battery retention and ballast needed
  • Vibration damping and isolation for end use applications
  • Mounting and retention of power cables and harnessing
  • Reliability, Durability of current designs
  • VA/VE opportunities
  • Design updates to meet customer needs
  • Provide support for new product development teams during:

  • Customer requirements generation

  • Product development phase of projects
  • Provide feedback from deployments of new designs
  • Create new or change design of electrical systems and/or components.
  • Keep manager informed of progress, changes, priorities, and project cost/schedule status.
  • May have responsibility for small projects or major vehicle sub-systems.
  • May present project status to senior management.
  • Travel up to 20%.

About you:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Quality, Energy, or Systems Engineering + 1 year of experience.
  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Quality, Energy, or Systems Engineering + 0 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of Lithium-Ion Battery Systems, including their control systems and operational characteristics.
  • Experience in development or test of battery, charger, fuel cells, ESS, or related fields.
  • Strong technical aptitude, analytical problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Strategic, creative, positive attitude, team-oriented, self-motivated, and critical thinker.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to constructively interface with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Has the ability to present technical material to diverse audiences.

It would be great if you had:

  • Master’s degree in above fields.
  • 5yrs+ experience in a product engineer roles and high urgency issue resolution.
  • Knowledge of Hydrogen Fuel Cell Systems and operational characteristics Advanced troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience in direct customer and product dealer interactions.
  • Previous material handling equipment experience.
  • Familiarity with UL2267/2271/2580 design standards.
  • Familiarity with UL583 design standard.

About the total compensation package:

Salary - $80,000 - $113,000 per year. Compensation depends on the selected candidate’s education and experience.

Relocation – This position may qualify for relocation.
