This electrical engineering team is focused on the electrical systems and electronics that are in our World Class trucks and accessories. This is a strong area of growth as more electronics are being incorporated into the platforms everyday! This manager will lead the team through the innovations and refactoring our electrical system to keep us at the peak of the industry.
About the position:
The Manager of Electrical Engineering (MEE hereafter) will participate in and supervise the activities of a team of electrical engineers and technicians to design, develop, produce, and improve products, and large systems. The electrical engineering manage will also develop processes and strategies to test components, developing new PCBs, and electrical systems. The MEE shall be a Principal Electrical Engineer who can provide direction, and coordination of all team technical activities and is responsible for facilitating all hardware releases. The MEE shall be a collaborative communicator focused on building relationships and promoting synergy across business lines. MEE will manage and be involved in all phases of projects from pre-proposal involvement to design, production, and construction. The Electrical Engineer Manager will hire, fire, lead, direct, and review the work of others and be a mentor to junior level electrical engineers. In this role, you will:
- Manage and participate in the analysis, design, and prototype development of new products, as well as improvements to existing products.
- Provide EE Team leadership and technical support and EE perspective to cross-functional teams, ensuring new products, product improvements, safety requirements, budgets, and schedules can be realistically achieved.
- Support manufacturing, quality control, technical and field service teams as it relates to documentation, troubleshooting and electrical problem solving.
- Manage the creation, review, and capture of designs and drawings.
- Manage and facilitate process updates to deal with evolving technology & tools.
- Provide guidance for verification of products, configuration control, test methods, and experiments to evaluate system performance.
- Coordinate with other departments (Program Management, Mechanical, Software, Field Service, Production, QA) throughout the development lifecycle.
- Responsible for the consistent application of engineering best practices and product development processes to meet standards (UL, CE, ISO, etc).
- Coordinate weekly technical tasks for team individuals, to successfully meet project schedules.
- Recruit, Train, mentor, and develop engineers.
About you:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering.
- 8+ years of engineering experience, including 3+ years in a technical management role.
- Experience with standard electrical tools (Altium, Orcad, Cadence, CREO, Autocad Electrical).
- Experience with requirement and development tracking tools (Jira, Jama, etc.).
- Demonstrated technical skills in developing Electrical architecture that can be applied over diverse product line.
- Experience adding value through leadership by building high performing team and achieving successful outcomes on complicated programs/projects.
- Demonstrated application of cost control, schedule, and risk and opportunity management.
- Strong presentation, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build strong vendor/contractor relationships.
- Able to travel 10%-15%.
It would be great if you had:
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering and/or MBA.
- 10 years of experience in a multi-disciplined engineering environment
- Microcontroller design experience, and standard digital product design, using ARM processors and FPGAs.
- 5+ years of electrical Full product cycle management from cradle to grave.
- 5+ years of motor control experience.
About the total compensation package:
Salary - $125,000 - 187,500 per year. Compensation depends on the selected candidate’s education and experience.
Relocation – This position may qualify for relocation.
