Science Systems and Applications, Inc. Senior Capture Manager in Greenbelt, Maryland

Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI) is seeking a Senior Capture Manager/Business Development Manager to be an active member of the Business Development team. Working with the Executive Team, the Senior Capture Manager/Business Development Manager will perform business development functions, including competitive analyses, identification of potential opportunities, development of capture plans, and support other business development activities. The Senior Capture Manager/Business Development Manager will establish and nurture relationships with existing and potential Science and Engineering customers, as well as potential industry partners. Additionally, the Senior Capture Manager/Business Development Manager will serve as a mentor to our BD staff including technical writers, proposal coordinators and proposal managers. Given general organizational strategies and objectives, qualified candidates will construct and execute customer and industry partner contact plans without direct instruction.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a physical science, engineering or related discipline plus 8 years of relevant experience in business development or technical services in the federal and/or commercial sectors, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Established contacts and experience working with NASA, USGS, EPA, JPL, JHU (APL), Department of Defense, USDA, and/or NOAA, etc.

  • Successful track record of identifying, marketing, and capturing large technical support services contracts.

  • Ability to develop marketing presentations and provide context and insight in support of responses to Government RFPs, RFQs, Sources Sought and RFIs.

  • Understanding of FAR and DFAR regulations.

  • Team-oriented collaborative individual with demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Knowledge of a broad spectrum of technical disciplines, as well as an understanding of the industry key players and potential partners in science, engineering, and manufacturing.

  • Knowledge of the federal procurement process and ability to interact with executive level management for SSAI and our customers.

  • Ability to mentor, coach and develop less experienced talent.

  • Demonstrated experience growing a government contracting business.

  • Requires US Citizenship or Permanent Residency.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in physical science, engineering, or related discipline

  • Experience in the science, engineering and/or commercial space industry.

  • Familiarity with multi-disciplinary engineering fields—e.g., optical, thermal, electrical, mechanical

  • Experience with space hardware component manufacturing

  • Established contacts and experience working with local and state governments.

  • Ability to work in either commercial or government environments.

  • Knowledge of contract types, NDA process and Teaming Agreements.

  • CRM knowledge, Salesforce preferable

  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance
