JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job ID: 21424 JOB DETAILS: WORKING TITLE: Principal Data Warehouse & BI Engineer UW SYSTEM OFFICIAL TITLE: Data Warehouse Engineer/Developer III POSTING DATE: November 18, 2024 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The University of Wisconsin - Green Bay has an opening for a Principal Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence Engineer (Data Warehouse Engineer/Developer III). This role will be a member of both the Information Technology (IT) and Finance teams and will be responsible for driving innovation in our data warehousing and analytics. This is a new role that will be critical to transforming UW-Green Bay into a best-in-class data informed decision-making organization. To be successful in this role, the candidate must possess strong leadership skills executed through coaching, training, and mentoring other employees across the institution. Candidates who have experience conducting peer reviews of technical solutions and quality review of business requirements documents (BRDs) and technical development documents (TDDs) for analytic solutions are encouraged to apply. A thorough understanding of higher educational processes and data will be beneficial in this role. From a technical aspect, this position will manage the entire analytic development lifecycle from ideation through deployment. This role will require partnering with our IT department to build and deploy ETL processes for Amazon Redshift, as well as partnering with all stakeholders within the organization to identify opportunities for analytic solutions. These solutions will be initially focused on financial data, such as operational scorecard and metrics, management reporting, analytic insights, and data driven alerting. This role will expand to include all data sets across the organization. Success for this role will be evaluated by the number of data sources (complete and accurate) housed in Redshift, insights delivered through analytics, and stakeholder interactions with the Tableau dashboards. Our team primarily delivers analytic solutions through SQL, Tableau Prep, and Tableau and will also require working extensively within Amazon Redshift to warehouse data. This position includes the following responsibilities: Develop interfaces to warehouse all organizational data on Amazon Redshift, build data models on Amazon Redshift, and create proactive monitoring to ensure completeness and accuracy of data Create and maintain a pipeline of ideas for analytics and business intelligence by partnering with key stakeholders to ensure audience needs are met Build analytic solutions primarily using SQL, Tableau Prep, and Tableau, coupled with a track record for creating solutions that are efficient, effective, essential, and delivered on time Foster strong relationships with all key stakeholders SPECIAL NOTES: This position may have the option to work on-campus, a hybrid schedule, or fully remote, subject to approved telecommuting request. The home campus of this position is Green Bay and the successful candidate may occasionally be required to travel to or work at the Marinette, Sheboygan or Manitowoc Campus, based on operational needs.
