Position Summary:

Create and maintain a safe and comfortable environment for students, staff and visitors by replacing, repairing, modifying and calibrating existing and new heating and air conditioning systems.

Job Duties:

  • Inspect, repair, modify or replace high temperature hot water systems or components (365 psi, 365 Deg F) including controls, piping system, pumps and valves.

  • Inspect, repair, modify or replace low temp hot water systems or components.

  • Perform chemical treatment of systems. Includes coils, control valves, piping and related equipment.

  • Inspect, repair or replace steam producers and condensate feed systems or components. Perform chemical treatment. Includes working in confined spaces. Equipment includes related pumps, controls, valves and piping.Abate limited amounts of Asbestos.

  • Inspect, repair, or replace gas fired furnaces, boilers and related equipment.

  • Do semi-annual cleaning, PM and filter changes. Includes flame safeguards, ductwork, venting, relief valves, burners, expansion tanks and related equipment.

  • Inspect, repair, or replace bearings in pumps and motors. Inspect and replace seals and/or couplings on pumps.

  • Inspect, repair, replace absorption chillers, mechanical chillers, components and related equipment. Monitor chiller operation and chemical feed systems. Do annual set-up and cleaning of systems. Includes cooling towers, pumps, condenser water systems and related equipment.

  • Inspect, repair or replace air handling units, exhaust fans and components. This includes cleaning, lubricating and filter changes. Equipment includes motors, bearings, shafts, coils and related equipment.

  • Inspect, repair or replace refrigeration and air conditioning systems and components. This includes both soft and silver soldering.

  • Use of refrigerant recovery equipment is required by law. Must be certified by the state for compliance with CFC requirements.

  • Diagnose all problems with control systems, pneumatic, electric, solid state and electronic.

  • Install, repair, replace and calibrate all control systems.

  • Design and modify existing and new control systems.

  • Valid Driver's License required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience Only:

Three (3) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position

OR

Education and Experience:

A combination of related education, formalized apprenticeship program, and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to three (3) years
