City Of Greeley Irrigation Technician I / II - Public Works - Infrastructure in Greeley, Colorado

Salary Range: Level I: $23.70 - $30.82 Hourly Level II: $25.53 - $34.47 Hourly

Job Summary: The City of Greeley is seeking two full-time, benefit eligible, term limited Irrigation Technicians to join the Infrastructure Services division of the Public Works Department. These positions are funded through 4/1/2025, with the possibility of becoming permanent if additional funding is approved at a later date. The Irrigation Technicians will perform general upkeep and cleaning of public spaces in Downtown Greeley and landscape maintenance including planting, installing pavers, installing trash receptacles and benches, mowing, watering, pruning, weed control and facility/equipment repairs. The successful candidate will bring the ability to operate a variety of motorized equipment, hand, and power tools. The Technicians may oversee projects if Equipment Operator II and III are absent from the work site(s).

Experience, Knowledge, Skills:

Minimum Requirements *Level will be determined by experience, CDL status, and certifications at the time of hire.

Level I and II must have: High school diploma or equivalent A valid driver's license. Class B Commercial Driver's license or the ability to obtain within (6) months. Flaggers Certification or the ability to obtain within six (6) months. Availability to work various weekends and holidays is required.

In addition, Level I requires: One (1) to two (2) years of irrigation experience.

In addition, Level II requires: Three (3) to five (5) years of irrigation experience.

Preferred English/Spanish bilingual skills preferred. Specialized training beyond high school or related experience in equipment maintenance, basic mechanics preferred. Previous team leader or supervisory experience a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge and experience in the use of operating hand and power tools, light trucks, tractors used in public space maintenance. Knowledge and experience in the upkeep of public spaces including landscaping knowledge and sprinkler systems. Basic math skills to install and maintain irrigation systems. Computer skills, including the ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), Baseline, Cityworks, and the ability to learn and experiment with new software and system Ability to solve a variety of problems in situations where there are substantially diversified procedures, specialized standards, and only limited standardization, and have the decision-making ability to achieve the required job results while adhering to specified, acceptable standards, alternatives, and technical practices. Knowledge of the business and organizational structure of Colorado municipalities. Collaboration skills, including the ability to work with others from different areas and backgrounds to reach a common goal. Interpersonal skills, including the ability to facilitate interaction, communication, and teamwork between others. Oral, written, and listening communication skills, including the ability to accurately interpret what others are saying and convey messages, information, concepts, and details accurately and clearly. Essential Functions: Installs, repairs, and maintains irrigation equipment. Installs, repairs, and maintains various types of public space infrastructure.
