WSP has a large, highly experienced and professional Acoustics team who get involved with a diverse range of interesting projects across a number of sectors within the UK for both private and public sector clients. The team pride themselves on the integrated support offered by working alongside our in-house environmental and sustainability specialists, as well as our structural and mechanical engineers, to deliver commercially balanced, innovative and integrated solutions.

This role will be based in our Manchester office on a part time basis of approximately one day per week, and we are flexible whether this is a single day per week or two half-days.

  • Managing equipment calibration, ensuring that our equipment is calibrated at regular intervals and sending it out when calibration is due

  • Undertaking basic repairs to equipment (battery wiring, crimping, soldering)

  • Making new cables and connections

  • Liaison with equipment suppliers to manage more complex repairs, order spare parts and new items of equipment

The judges praised the creative and innovative approach to using Findwave to give the client the information they needed to proceed with a time critical project, with good collaboration demonstrated throughout.

The WSP Acoustics team were highly commended in the 2022 ANC Awards in the ‘Environmental Noise: Non Infrastructure’ category for Eden Project North, for undertaking a novel approach for this new mixed use leisure development in Morecambe to allow the

  • Are studying Acoustics or a related course

  • Are enthusiastic and driven

  • Have a basic understanding of electronics/electrics and have an electronics/electrics related qualification

  • Are able to use a soldering iron and other electronics maintenance tools

  • Are well organised and effective

  • Have a social and team-spirited attitude, and work well as part of a team.
