Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Medical Records Clerk - Outpatient Radiology - Part Time - Great Neck. In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for performing routine clerical work relating to the maintenance of medical records. Ensures that all health information is maintained in accordance with established NYU Medical Center policies and procedures, Joint Commission standards, and regional, state and federal guidelines.

Job Responsibilities:

    • Maintains permanent file area and storage area. Locates and retrieves and files medical records as required. Files information according to departmental filing systems in designated areas. Maintains files in a well-organized manner. Retrieves charts and other records from files as requested in a timely manner. Obtains medical records from electronic system, when applicable. Follows established procedures for completing productivity form.
    • Participates and performs all other related duties.
    • Appropriately tracks records to and from record area. Checks all applicable systems for reports. Inserts reports into medical records and updates accordingly. Updates chart tracking system with new physician profiles.
    • Ensures receipt of all records and documents in accordance with departmental policies. Accurately tracks charts and communicates with other departments to ensure all records and documents are received. Follows up in a timely manner for missing charts or parts. Prepares charts prior to scheduled appointments in accordance with departmental procedures. Creates new file folders and ensures proper chart size. Merges duplicate medical record numbers. Processes expired charts for offsite storage.
    • Assists walk-in requestors in a courteous manner. Answers the telephone in a polite manner, identifying themselves and the department. Takes messages thoroughly and accurately. Answers calls promptly and gives out accurate information to routine questions while following hospital confidentiality policies. Transfers calls to the correct individual based on content of inquiry.
    • Retrieves medical records from onsite or offsite locations. Delivers medical records to appropriate location. Transports medical records in a timely fashion. Safeguards medical records during transport to ensure confidentiality and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or the equivalent required. Good communication and computer skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of Medical terminology or third party payer operations is helpful. Typing skills and familiarity with automated systems and PC applications preferred.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $24.64 - $23.55 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
