- Simulation/Trainer Design Engineer (Mechanical):Design and manufacture of high-fidelity simulators and trainers for the most complex fixed wing and rotor wing air vehicles, both manned and unmanned, and ground vehicles. Including: F-35, F-18, V-22, H-60, H-47, VH-3, VH-60, H-53, H-65, C-130, F-5, T-44, M346, AH-1, S-70, MQ-4, MQ-8, MQ-25, and Abrams M1A2.
- Simulation/System Laboratory Engineer (Mechanical):Design, development, and sustainment of high fidelity test facilities for complex air vehicle integrated systems, including E-2D Systems Test and Evaluation lab, P-8A Systems Integration Lab, Unmanned Air System Integration Lab, F-35 Joint Simulation Environment Lab, the Executive Helicopter Systems Integration Lab, MQ-25 System Test and Integration Lab, and the Multi-User Laboratory Environment.
- Mission Systems Design Engineer (Mechanical):Design and fabrication of prototype and low-level production of systems and components including the T-45 Mission Computer Alternative, E-2D Mission Computer Adjunct Processor, and Digital Heads-Up Display.
- Instrumentation Design Engineer (Mechanical):Design, development, integration, and support of complex, flight-worthy, fighter-ruggedized, on-board instrumentation for precise time stamping of test events and post-mission reconstruction of event sequences across multiple aircraft platforms by recording MIL-STD-1553 bus, ARINC bus, and GPS position data during flight test events.
- Aircraft/Shipboard Mod/Prototype/Parts Design Engineer (Mechanical):Design, manufacture, and installation of aircraft, shipboard, and ground station components, piece parts, and assemblies including aircraft prototype systems, aircraft modifications, aircraft part kits installations, and Unmanned Aircraft Systems ground control stations.
J.F. Taylor, Inc. is seeking engineers to contribute to all phases of the design cycle including requirements generation, design, production, troubleshooting/testing, and delivery/installation. Engineers work in a team setting with Project Managers, Engineers, Testers and Technicians. Tasking will consist of the following:
- Mechanical engineering design, integration, and test of mechanical systems to support aircraft modification projects and training system development projects by designing and developing both prototype and production mechanical piece parts and assemblies. Aircraft modification projects may include minor component design and installation projects and/or major system integration projects. Training system development projects may include design work related to maintenance training devices and/or full flight simulation devices including structural baseframe design, reverse engineering and design of Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), reverse engineering of complex cockpit and driver's compartment geometry to manufacture with sheet metal and fiberglass for high-fidelity replicas, design of simulated and actual aircraft control loading systems, implementation of additive manufacturing design techniques to achieve high-fidelity piece parts and assemblies, and reverse engineering of complex mechanical mechanisms to reproduce equivalent form, fit and function systems.
- Generate detailed 3-D solid models for both aircraft and training system assemblies.
- System level design, architectural and requirement development and derivation.
- Generate, read, and comprehend 3-D solid models and 2D production drawings.
- Utilize engineering tools, primarily Creo, Solid Works, AutoCAD and Polyworks in tandem with Pro ect Lifecycle Management tool (PLM) WindChill.
- Conduct site survey and data collection events.
- Cable design for both laboratory and military applications
- Perform design trade-offs
- Support requirements and documentation development, and assist with test planning and execution.
- Work with production teams to support fabrication of final products.
- Adhere to military/DoD aircraft systems requirements
- Adhere to military and industrial standards
- Work individually and as part of a team
- Supporting the Mechanical Engineering Team with the design and fabrication of mechanical assemblies.
Position Requirements
Degree: B.S. Mechanical Engineering or related field
Yearsof Experience: 0-5 years of experience is preferred, but all will be considered.
- The candidate must have the ability to generate, read, and comprehend 3-D solid models and 2D production drawings.
- Strong organizational, writing, and communication skills are required.
- Experience with engineering tools, primarily with 3-D solid modeling (Creo, Solid Works) and Windchill is strongly desired.
- Experience with military/DoD aircraft or shipboard systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication and aircraft hardware is a plus.
- Knowledge of ASME Y14.100M drawing standards and ISO 9000/AS9100 standards is desired.
