Summary You will serve as a SECURITY ASSISTANT (OFFICE AUTOMATION) in the NAVY INSTALLATIONS COMMAND (CNIC) of NAVSTA GREAT LAKES SEC DET. Responsibilities You will greet persons entering building, determine nature and purpose of visit, and direct or escort them to specific destinations. You will prepare summaries of information received (e.g. type of investigation, existence of derogatory information requiring adjudication) to establish or maintain security files. You will respond verbally to inquiries for verification of security clearances recorded in security databases. You will access a personal identification system to issue vehicle passes and identification badges. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: 1) Using office automation software (e.g., word processing, database, spread sheet programs) to draft documents in accordance with outlined regulations and procedures; 2) Using office equipment (e.g., personal computer, fax machine, or scanner) to perform a variety of administrative tasks; 3) Interpreting policy to ensure uniform application of regulations and processes; and 4) Ordering office supplies.
