A lateral officer must hold an active Oregon DPSST Police Officer certification or a current valid Police Officer certification from another state and been employed as a certified Police Officer. Lateral Officers must meet the Oregon DPSST physical requirements. Check out this video about the Grants Pass Police Department. Lateral Officers will be provided with duty related equipment. Lateral Officer Incentives: Signing Bonus Upon Eligibility: \$1,000 at the time of hire for a Lateral Officer with meeting the qualified years of experience as a sworn, full-time officer. Step at hire and accrual lump sums: Based on years worked as a sworn, full-time officer. Please inquire with Human Resources for more information. The residency requirement for the position of police officer is forty-five (45) minutes from City limits as it exists within the Urban Growth Boundary (UGB). Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from High School or GED and 1 year of work experience are required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job as those listed.
