Position Summary

Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, one of the world’s leading tire manufacturers, has an immediate job opportunity for a Sr. Mechanical Engineer at the Aiken County PSR/LTR Plant. Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, this position is responsible for the design, installation and continuous improvement of assigned machines and designs in order to maximize the safety, quality and operating efficiency of the plant. This position is also responsible for maintenance technical support as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provides input into the design for new or modified systems, processes or technologies.

  • Serve as technical lead, planning and organizing portions of a project. Budget, manpower and equipment utilization

  • Troubleshoot problems on existing systems, processes and technologies. Utilize available resources (other engineers, multi-skilled maintenance and operations teammates).

  • Participate in monitoring and evaluating the performance of existing systems, processes and technologies and recommends modifications and enhancements to improve quality and/or efficiency.

  • Approximately 80% of time is spent on the production floor, 10% working at desk on a computer, and 10% in meetings. The production floor environment requires working in high temperature, high noise levels (hearing protection required), and around moving equipment and heavy machinery.

Engineering:

  • Create and finalize designs to meet project scope of work and safety requirements, Bill of Materials and spare part requirements.

  • Work closely with Automation Vendors and Manage External Contractors on Installations.

  • Engineering drawing development. (Autodesk products)

  • Project/Equipment Risk Assessment & Safety Countermeasure Implementation.

  • Specification and procurement of mechanical hardware and services.

  • Machine FAT, IO check-out, Machine start-up and commissioning.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical degree

  • 5 years of work experience

  • Strong project management skills

Preferred:

  • Work experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with AutoCAD and Inventor software packages.

  • A solid background and understanding in machine design.
