We are looking for a Finance and Planning Managerto join our Canadian Lumber team providing support to our manufacturing operations in Grande Prairie and Drayton Valley. This position is open to be based in Edmonton, Grande Prairie, or Drayton Valley. Presence at the mills will be required approximately 50% of the time and therefore travel will be a part of the role. In this role, you will partner with operations leaders and drive operational excellence using problem solving, financial and analytical skills. Our focus is to move beyond finance and planning, providing the right level of information and decision making to execute business strategy and ensure top quartile performance.
In this role, your essential functions will be to:
- Be accountable for all financial aspects of the sites
- Provide internal control training and oversight to business partners
- Drive the Operational Excellence culture and provide financial support for the operation
- Be present and available for questions, strategic discussions, and ad-hoc coaching sessions
- Understand complex concepts and know how to communicate a simple message
- Actively participate in continuous improvement and innovation initiatives
- Own the capital management process, ensuring capital delivers world class results
- Development of annual and long range plans, monthly forecasts and cost analysis/reporting
This role has no direct reports but has a high level of influence and therefore leadership skills are required
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, CPA preferred
- Five years of experience in financial or manufacturing operations.
- Comfortable working with sales, operations, finance, and accounting teams
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to lead and manage change
- Working knowledge of cost accounting, financial systems (SAP preferred), and internal controls
- Flexible and capable of adapting to different ways of looking at and solving problems
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Excellent PC skills. Specifically, strong Excel user
Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $104,400 - $153,800 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 10% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement: Nonunion Canadian employees are automatically enrolled in our Defined Contribution Pension Plan, which includes a paid company match up to 6%, in addition to a company contribution equaling up to 7.25% of your base salary.
