VCA Animal Hospitals Veterinary Technician Supervisor in United States
Seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician Supervisor to join our brand-new location in Grand Rapids Michigan – VCA Knapp’s Corner Animal Hospital is OPENING in September 2024.
Location: 2078 East Beltline Ave. Grand Rapids, MI 49525
Compensation: $ 25 - $ 28 / hour. Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials.
Schedule: This is a full position. The hospital is open 6 days a week, M-F 7am- 9 pm & Sat 7am-5pm.
Hiring timeline: We are eager to start assembling a dynamic team for this new location with hiring beginning in July and training the first week of August 2024 to ensure each associate is prepared for our grand opening in September 2024.

The skills that you will be utilizing include, but are not limited to:
Physical examinations and patient assessment
Anesthesia monitoring
Surgical preparation and assisting
Dentistry
Radiology
Laboratory work
Venipuncture
Catheter placement
Pharmacy
Patient recovery
Compassionate care of our hospitalized animals
In the supervisor role, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Directing work flow on the floor
Assists in the educational development of technicians and their skills
Help with the interview process for potential new hires
Technician Scheduling
Assists in staffing and coverage where needed
Assists in basic protocol and standard procedure training
Provide opportunities for staff to gain more firsthand experience
Mentoring technicians within the department
Working with department doctors to develop protocols to improve the service
Ensure that VCA policies, guidelines, and recommendations are implemented by all members of the technical staff.
Qualifications
Minimum 6 years of veterinary experience in a general practice or emergency setting with at least 2 years of experience in a leadership role.
Must have a current veterinary technician certification in the state of Michigan or be eligible to transfer/obtain a certification in MI.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
Willingness to jump in as needed
Able to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
Comfortable asking for help and clarification when needed
Possess high attention to detail
