Job Description:
As an avionics electrical engineer, you are focused on designing and documenting electrical circuit card assemblies. The applicant will interact with business development and all engineering functions, with specific focus on electrical engineering. You will be involved with multidisciplinary project teams involving mechanical, electrical digital/analog, RF, and software engineering in planning, designing, prototyping, and testing of avionics Flight Displays, Transponders, Data Recorders, Air Data Systems, RF and Sensor-based systems, along with complementary Data Analysis capabilities.
Essential Functions:
Conceptualize, design, support fab, and integrate digital, analog, and power circuitry, with supplemental RF principles, in the avionics realm.
Electrical schematic generation and review with support for and review of CAD layout (preferred skills with Altium and/or Xpedition).
Complement electrical design work with software tasks (approx. 10%) to create functional design capabilities. Python or C++ working knowledge desirable.
Design circuits with microcontrollers, memory, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, high-speed busses including PCIE, and various avionics interfaces.
Generate design documents including HRDs, HDDs, and HCIAs
Learn and apply new techniques and skills on every project, including outside one’s main engineering discipline.
Develop effective responses to customer needs, whether internal or external
Effectively communicate across multiple technical teams.
Communicate directly with customers, in person or virtually, to understand their problems and formulate actionable solutions.
Other duties as assigned.
Travel up to 10%.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or science. Prefer Electrical Engineering.
Minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience in an electrical engineering role, including requirements definition, requirements verification, design reviews and documentation, integration, test and demonstration.
Minimum 2 years’ experience with electrical hardware design.
Hands on experience designing and developing avionics products, preferably for surveillance (TCAS), displays, and/or recorders.
Must be a US Person which requires US Citizenship or being a Green Card holder
Preferred Additional Skills:
Experience with and an understanding of aerospace systems, especially in the development of integrated hardware/software products
Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering
Experience with FPGA firmware development
Excellent people skills, with experience leading and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment.
Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation)
Knowledge of DO-160, DO-178, and DO-254
Working knowledge of at least one software language (python or C++ desirable)
Experience with Design to Cost
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple programs and responsibilities simultaneously
Ability to operate and identify appropriate path forward with minimal oversight
Pilot License or Part 107 certificate, and experience creating flight test scenarios and systems
