Boyd Corporation Sales Support Representative in Grand Rapids, Michigan

This is a supporting role in the sales organization to manage customer activities and programs, and support the sales team to promote account growth.

Responsibilities:

• All customer order and account management supported activities. Includes, but is not limited to, process customer's requests for quotes and forwarding to Estimating. Gathers and prepares required information for formal quotation including, but not limited to, drawings, sample parts, technical data, and material sources for submittal to Boyd Estimating and assists with the preparation of formal quotation packages for customer review.

• Developing new prospect/customer relationships to achieve business targets.

• Order management activities through contract review process.

• Responsible for auditing orders received for price, quantity, delivery, revision level. Also, communicates price, ship date, anticipated delays, and any additional information needed by the customer pertaining to their request. Writes or types order form, and/or enters data into computer, to determine total cost and availability for customer- or works with administrative support to manage this activity.

• Communicates with all facets of the organization relating to the customer’s inquiries and program planning.

• Supports Business Development Executives’ interaction with sales and production for customer.

• Program management of new products and/or content to the organization through the appropriate prescribed process flow. Oversees new programs from inception to implementation.

• Sales Representative of an assigned territory. Responsible for assigned target accounts along with territory growth plans. Sell additional merchandise to customers through up-selling and cross-selling attempts. Business development frequently communicated with current and prospective customers via phone and email.

• Ascertains credit rating of customers; advises customers of changes in terms.

• Checks inventory control and notify stock control departments of orders that would deplete stock. Responsible to work with purchasing department pertaining to customers’ cancellation request in efforts to avoid excess inventory of any raw materials unique to a customer’s application.

• Receives and tracks customer complaints as they relate to the quality procedures.

• Works under general supervision and relies on experience and judgment in program planning and order management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor degree preferred, 2 year Associate degree as a minimal requirement; 2 years related

experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write memos and letters that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, sales groups, engineers, and/or customers. MUST READ, WRITE AND SPEAK FLUENT ENGLISH.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions,

percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
