University of Michigan Health-West (Formally Metro Health) is looking forĀ  Quality Coordinator RN - Quality ManagementĀ 

The Quality Coordinator is accountable for the development, implementation, and monitoring of quality improvement and patient safety activities for a designated quality collaborative or service line. Provides clinical quality assurance, process improvement, registry abstraction, and data validation with compulsive attention to detail. In collaboration with physicians, APPs, nurses, and other clinicians, the Quality Coordinator gathers, analyzes, and interprets data in order to identify and implement opportunities to improve the quality of care.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science of Nursing required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Current Michigan RN License.
  • Three (3) years of direct clinical patient care experience required. Experience in assigned service line / focus preferred.
  • Two (2) years of Quality Improvement / Patient Safety experience strongly preferred.
  • Skill and proficiency in applying quality principles and concepts.
  • Exhibits communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of internal and external customers, including, but not limited to, medical staff, patients, families, clinical personnel, support and technical staff, outside agencies, and the community.
  • Exceptional organizational and computer skills are required with proficiency in Microsoft software applications and Epic outpatient and inpatient EHR systems.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently, make decisions and take appropriate action when concerns arise.
  • Ability to work with sensitive and/or confidential information.
  • Ability to make effective decisions, judgment, and incorporate problem-solving methods.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Serves as the Coordinator for a designated quality collaboratives and / or service lines, by participating in the defined capacity for all required meeting and committees, collaborating with physician champions, and abstracting data and analyzing findings in order to identify and implement improvement actions.

Acts as a consultant, educator, and facilitator for quality improvement and patient safety initiatives for hospital staff and physicians that include, but are not limited to: event analysis, pee review, morbidity and mortality, clinical documentation, and multi-disciplinary quality improvement team activities

Identifies, analyzes, and develops aggregate summaries of Quality Improvement data that includes internal and outside quality and patient safety measures. Benchmarks the activity findings in order to provide useful internal and public reporting of quality data findings.

Assess effectiveness of quality management systems and recommends changes that will enhance overall performance and patient safety.

Introduces and encourages "best practices" throughout University of Michigan Health-West Hospital.

Provides reports regarding the quality of care and services to appropriate committees and departments.

Maintains current knowledge of laws, regulations, healthcare trends and accreditation standards; provides education, and coordinates the preparation, monitoring, and developing of mechanisms to comply with standards and surveys.

Supports and works collaboratively with other QI Coordinators and members of the Quality Team.

Promotes and maintains a non-punitive culture of service excellence, safety, and continuous quality improvement.
