Corewell Health Manager Clinical Behavioral Health in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Job Summary

The Clinical Manager provides clinical and operational management over all behavioral health programming and services delivered to the organization's membership or patients. Through development and oversight of clinical programs and direct management of staff, this position ensures timely, efficient and successful delivery of behavioral health services to the organization's membership or patients in conjunction with company-wide initiatives policy.

Essential Functions

  • Provides operational management over the Behavioral Health Outpatient Prior Authorization program, Utilization Management, Outpatient Case Management program, Emergency Services program or Behavioral Health Ambulatory Care Management Program including people, program administration and service delivery. Includes ensuring adequate staff allocation and assignment.

  • Develop project/program resourcing strategies, allocating budget, staff, tools and internal support necessary for cost-effective implementation.

  • Works with Director on clinical program development, key tactics, outcomes/metric measurements and department strategies that improve health, reduce costs, create profitable growth and meet department/organizational goals and objectives.

  • Plan and direct all Quality, UM and Clinical regulatory functions of the Behavioral Health department in order to maintain regulatory and accreditation compliance.

  • Ensures staff compliance to operational policies and procedures as well as regulatory processes, as evidenced by routine internal audit results.

  • Serves as Behavioral Health representative/expert on designated external work teams, community and provider partnerships, outreach events and projects.

  • Provides leadership, coaching and mentoring to direct reports including direct oversight of quality review and clinical operations, as well as routine audits of staff performance related to concurrent review, discharge planning and prior authorization.

  • Assists Director with budget preparation and monitoring, operates effectively within defined budget parameters.

Qualifications

Required

  • Master's Degree in a human service field.

  • License - Master Social Worker (MSW) from the State of Michigan upon hire

  • 5 years of relevant experience in the health care regulations and accreditation arenas

  • 5 years of relevant experience in a psychiatric or substance abuse treatment setting

  • 5 years of relevant experience in direct management of staff

Preferred

  • 7 years of relevant experience in direct management of staff

  • 10 years of relevant experience in a psychiatric of substance abuse treatment setting
