Facilities Maintenance Technician - Grand Rapids, MI

Job Description

This facility maintenance technician will have responsibilities including performing preventive maintenance and repairs on all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems including, but not limited to pumps, chillers, boilers, air compressors, and air handling units. They will perform general repairs, maintenance, and replacement of building components such as building fixtures, plumbing, and electrical systems. Apply working knowledge and skills in HVAC distribution and controls to adjust and resolve work orders.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.

  • Conduct general repairs, maintenance, and replacement of building components.

  • Adjust and resolve work orders related to HVAC distribution and controls.

  • Work with the current Chief Engineer to learn about the building, with the potential to become the Chief Engineer by the end of 2026.

  • Be on-call every other weekend (rarely called in).

  • Lift over 25lbs and troubleshoot various maintenance issues.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of previous facilities maintenance experience.

  • Ability to communicate with contractors, vendors, tenants, and other personnel.

  • Willingness to obtain specific certifications and licensures.
