Business Development Manager Summary:

The Business Development Manager is responsible for professionally representing the company's capabilities and materials in its target markets. Matches the needs and problems of our customers and markets served with the capabilities and solutions of the company to create value for the customer and the company. Builds market position by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and most importantly, closing new business relationships.

Business Development Manager Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develops new sales volume from new customers.

Locates or proposes potential business deals by contacting potential partners, discovering, and exploring opportunities.

Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with UFP's sales strategies and operations.

Screens potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; evaluating options; resolving internal priorities; recommending pricing strategies or equity investments.

Identifies trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements, tracking individual contributors and their accomplishments.

Maintains and services existing UFP Technologies accounts. This includes, but is not limited to, periodic visits, development of new projects, technical support, and periodic coordination of orders.

Solicits new business. This includes, but is not limited to, attending trade shows, follow-up of promotional leads, customer visits and presentations, interfacing with engineering and project management.

Possesses a comprehensive business understanding of top 20 to 30 accounts, including annual sales, employees, SIC code, trends, markets served, new products, locations, future opportunities, their competitors, etc.

Plays an integral role in developing price estimates for new business. Communicates competitive market information to ensure proper pricing strategy.

Maintains active pipeline in company CRM to meet quarterly and annual new business objectives.

Relays industry, competitive, and market information to management, internal engineers, estimators, and select sales associates to educate and influence the internal decision-making process.

Creates a strategic plan for each of the top 20 to 30 accounts.

Forecasts and budgets annual sales by customer.

Assists in developing three- and five-year strategic plans for respective plant or business unit.

Designs or assists in the design of custom solutions for packaging or component products.

Performs all other duties as assigned or needed.

 

Business Development Manager Qualification Requirements:

Bachelor of Science or Arts or equivalent experience.

Ideally 3-5 years direct sales experience in a manufacturing product environment.

Experience in consumable foam, film, and polymers a plus
