Position Overview

This position is responsible for safely operating a water tanker truck to transport water for use throughout job sites, drainage, and structures to control dust by spraying water on roadways or to achieve compaction of construction materials. Your duties may also include operating the equipment to excavate, move, grade, and level earth, as well as loading and unloading trucks. You will also be responsible for performing routine maintenance on the equipment, such as checking fluid levels and greasing joints

The ideal candidate will have prior experience operating heavy equipment. He or she will be able to operate the equipment safely and efficiently, as well as follow verbal and written instructions.

WAGE RANGE: $22.00 to $24.00 per hour, dependent on experience.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

Filling truck with water from approved supply sources. May drive truck equipped with sprinkling attachment to settle dust on roadways and streets to saturate flexible base for compaction. Distinguish when roads are over-watered, creating unsafe operating conditions. Safely operate truck in often unstable ground conditions. Preform pre- and post-inspections on truck, pursuant to DOT regulations, company guidelines, and manufacture's specifications. Report any issues or concerns with equipment to supervisor immediately. Load and unload materials onto/from trucks, trailers, and other vehicles using various types of machinery. Operate excavators, bulldozers, skid steers, and other heavy equipment to move earth, clear debris, and level land. Dig trenches, holes, and other foundations as directed. Backfill excavations and compact soil using heavy equipment. Assist in the construction of buildings, roads, bridges, and other Follow oral and written instructions from supervisors to complete assigned task Assist crews with other task as required when not operating the water truck. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. Knowledge of the aggregate, asphalt, and construction industry is preferred. Experience driving a water truck on roadway construction sites, preferred.

Work Requirements

Class A CDL Driver's License with Tanker, Air brake and Manual Transmission Endorsements required. Ability to work, day, swing, and night shifts. (Occasionally extended hours.) Experience operating heavy equipment preferred. Working knowledge of Whip Around/Vehicle inspection report, preferred.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

Knowledge of DOT Regulations. Ability to navigate uneven and rough terrain safely. Ability to recognize hazardous conditions. Ability to work collaboratively with a team in a fast-paced and complex environment. To perform this job successfully, an individual should be to work in constant exposure to the outside elements, in all weather conditions. Ability to work in a safety sensitive construction setting, including exposure to moving machinery and heavy equipment.
