Job Title: Substitute Custodian Pay Program: Substitute Transitioning to Support Staff FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports to: Building Leader as assigned Pay Range: Variable Rate $16.75 - $20.47 Work Year: 260 Days / 8 Hours (Year-Round)

SUMMARY: Operating under the general supervision of the building principal and the immediate supervision of the Lead Custodian, this employee maintains a clean, safe, and inviting environment for our staff, students, and school visitors. You'll perform routine cleaning tasks and address specific maintenance needs. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and takes pride in creating a clean and orderly space.

Note: Custodial positions outlined here work evening shifts throughout the school year. During school breaks, including holiday and semester breaks all custodians work day shifts to assist with deep cleaning tasks and special projects.

Substitute Custodian - Level I of III Substitute Custodians and are assigned to different locations each day based on the needs of the District. During this period, passing specific assessments is required to progress to a Trainee Custodian. Substitute Custodians are non-benefit eligible. Trainee Custodian - Level II of III Trainee Custodians continue to float between schools as needed. During this period, trainees are eligible to apply for site-based (single locations) positions as they become available. Trainee Custodians are benefits-eligible. Site-Based Custodian - Level III of III Upon completion of the application and selection process for a specific school or location this employee is promoted to a Site-Based Custodians.

Job Responsibility Descriptions

The regular daily custodial duties and responsibilities Regularly carrying out cleaning duties for example, dusting, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming; Sanitizing and disinfecting surfaces in restrooms, common areas, and high-touch points; Emptying trash and recycling bins; Cleaning windows, glass partitions, and mirrors; Cleaning and stocking building restrooms with soap, paper towels, and toilet paper; Safely operating and maintaining cleaning equipment, for example, floor buffers and power washers; Responding promptly to spills or accidents to ensure student, employee, and visitor safety. Conducting routine security checks, each shift, to ensure you lock all doors and windows after cleaning; Adhering to safety protocols, including the proper use of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE). The actual duties of this position may vary based on the building assignment and other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or acceptable academic programming experience required*; Bilingual oral and written skills, English/Spanish, are desirable; *Acceptable demonstration of education and/or experience is at the sole discretion of the district.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS: Valid Colorado driver's license or form of official identification required; Must successfully complete a criminal background check required for hire; Must successfully pass lifting evaluation of 35# within one month of hire, re-certification required every three years; Training on handling bodily fluids and spills required within 60 days of hire; Attend and successfully complete all staff development training as required by state law or as directed by supervisor.

TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES: Well-developed oral commun cation and phone etiquette skills in English; Well-developed interpersonal relationship building skills, especially as it relates to students and the school environment; Strong ability to use de-escalation techniques and to defuse stressful and possibly volatile situations; Strong ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job, especially as related to student issues; Ability to compute basic math equations especially as applies to mixing cleaning chemicals and supplies; Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, building, and department procedures; Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with people and students from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds; Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
