Job Description

Serve as technical leader for one or more interdisciplinary teams focused on development of new thermal-imaging products. The role requires broad knowledge of infrared imaging systems, outstanding communication & interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated facility for leading a team through all phases of development. The Systems Engineer serves as primary technical authority, responsible for defining and realizing state-of-the-art thermal-imaging products.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities: List the fundamental duties of the position

  • Define and manage systems requirements, verify the eventual design complies with them

  • Perform and document market research and system-level trades to optimize system architecture; define innovative solutions to complex technical challenges

  • Manage technical risks, integrate and test product designs, and troubleshoot / resolve unexpected problems

  • Coordinate with product management, design engineers, production personnel, customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure achievement of technical milestones

  • Collaborate with other systems engineers in peer-reviews, in optimizing best practices, and in coaching / training activities

Job Qualifications: Include minimum education, work experience, knowledge & skills necessary to perform the functions of the job

  • BS or higher in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or other related technical field.

  • Strong initiative & drive. As technical leaders of complex development projects, a Systems Engineer must prioritize, multi-task, and lead by example. A growth mindset is essential to stay abreast of technology trends, take advantage of lessons learned, and acquire new approaches.

  • Stellar oral & written communication. The Systems Engineer generates much of a design’s documentation and has oversight responsibility for all of it. He/she is also the focal point for technical coordination.

  • Demonstrated authority as a problem solver with a track record of innovative solutions.

  • Previous Systems Engineering experience is highly advantageous. Prior participation in product development is also very valuable to this role.

  • While previous experience with thermal imaging technology is not required, ability to learn on the job is essential. Familiarity with optics, sensors, electronics, mechanical design, software development, and/or advanced signal processing will provide a head start to the knowledge ultimately needed to lead development of our future products.

  • Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.

Working Conditions:

  • Systems Engineers must be onsite as required to lead project teams.

  • Occasional travel (customer / supplier visits, tradeshows, company symposia) is required.

  • The role has no direct reports. However, successful Systems Engineers excel at leading development teams and providing technical oversight.

Salary Range:

$71,940.00-$96,140.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
