Job Description General Mills is seeking a Data Scientist to join the Data Science & Modeling team within the Innovation, Technology, and Quality (ITQ) function. The ITQ function is the center of science innovation, product development, and quality activities for the company. In this role, you will be a key player on a team that is solving business problems within a data-rich science and engineering environment. You will have the opportunity to blend computer science, statistics, mathematics, modeling, and technology to transform data into actionable insights that drive business results. You will join a successful, multi-talented, functional analytics team and collaborate with partners inside and outside General Mills to further the growth and impact of data science on our business. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Work with teams to solve a wide range of problems using data This includes an emphasis on product development, quality in manufacturing, nutrition science, consumer and market research, and other scientific domains of ITQ Consult with scientists and engineers to translate and summarize complex analyses into actionable insights and recommendations that directly solve problems and influence business decisions Develop statistical and machine learning models with Python, R, or other languages and tools You will have the opportunity to scale analytics solutions for big data using Google Cloud Platform, working with a wide range of open-source tools Train, validate, and deploy deep learning algorithms to deliver new measures and data outcomes that drive deeper understanding for consumer liking, product & package design performance and product quality Partner to build Generative AI-enhanced software applications to unlock actionable insights on ITQ data REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Ph.D. in Statistics, Data Science, or Computer Science with a dissertation focus in analytics M.S. in Statistics, Data Science, or Computer Science and 1-2 years work experience in analytics Demonstrated ability to define problems and deliver solutions proactively against business or technical challenges Good communication skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships in-person and virtually Experience in using mathematics, statistics, modeling, business analysis, and technology to transform data into advanced analytic solutions Proficiency in SQL scripting languages, and experience with relational databases such as Big Query and Oracle Experience with an analytics programming language (e.g., R or Python), and with source code repositories such as Git PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience working within a global team Familiarity with a cloud enterprise data and computing platform (GCP, AWS, Azure) Experience working with in an R&D or scientific organization, or experience with food industry applications ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS This position is located in Minneapolis, MN and will not consider remote working arrangements International relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered Applicants for this position must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis as General Mills will not sponsor applicants for this position for work visas COMPANY OVERVIEW We exist to make food the world loves. Salary Range The salary range for this position is $68700.00 - $103200.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range f r this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
