U-Haul Manufacturing Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift in Glendale, Arizona

Primary Responsibilities:

· Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, controls, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production equipment. Troubleshoot malfunctions related to the equipment.

· Follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications.

· Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation and by using precision measuring and testing instruments.

· Remove and replace defective parts by dismantling devices using hand and power tools, cranes, and hoists.

· Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

· Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

· Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

· Complete other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Two or more years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.

· Ability to repair and maintain fabrication equipment, welding equipment, and building facilities.

· High school diploma required or GED equivalent.

· Must have own hand tools.

· Forklift certified or able to obtain forklift certification.

· Understand and practice safe working procedures.

· Regular attendance is essential.

Work Environment:

The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g. working around moving parts, machines, fumes, or irritating chemicals. May be required to use protective clothing, or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields.

Physical Demands:

The work requires physical exertion such as extended periods indoors and outdoors of remaining stationery, traversing spaces, repositioning to reach and use tools, and moving at least 50 lbs. assisted or unassisted.

Since 1945, U-Haul has been serving do-it-yourself movers and their households. Like many other successful ventures, the concept for U-Haul was generated out of need. After World War II, there existed the widespread need for do-it-yourself moving equipment that would be available on a one-way, nationwide basis. U-Haul co-founders L.S. "Sam" Shoen and his wife, Anna Mary Carty Shoen, recognized that need and acted upon it. Their visionary approach spread the cost of ownership among many users, facilitating the mobility of the populations of the U.S. and Canada. The covered wagon of the pioneers morphed into orange U-Haul trailers. In the process, an industry was born.
