Rowan University Campus Police Officer Candidate, Department of Public Safety in Glassboro, New Jersey

Summary:

Under immediate supervision, provides foot and vehicular patrol security and surveillance throughout Rowan University's entire Glassboro main campus; performs related work as required.

Requirements:

  • Graduation form high school or vocational school or possession of an approved high school equivalency certificate.

  • United States citizenship.

  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

    Special Qualifications:

  • Candidates must pass a NJ State Police background investigation, psychological test, and medical exam administered by the appointing authority (Rowan University) to determine fitness to perform the duties of a Campus Police Officer Recruit. Any psychological, medical, or physical condition or defect that would prevent efficient performance of the duties of the position, cause the appointee to be a hazard to himself/herself or others, or become aggravated as a result of performance of these duties will be cause for rejection.

  • Candidates must be able to be commissioned as a police officer under New Jersey Statute 18A and authorized to enforce Title 2C and Title 39 by training and experience.

    Salary:

  • FA17 Step 1 $60,135

    Notes:

  • Current discussions between relevant organizations are anticipated to lead to the end of the current Campus Police Officer Recruit job title. New hires or those currently in that title can be hired/converted to Campus Police Officers, which would have the likely effect of higher compensation for this title. The higher compensation level is already reflected in the salary listed for this position in this job description. As the New Jersey Civil Service Commission (“NJCSC”) is ultimately in charge of this initiative, any further relevant changes will be implemented upon notice from the NJCSC.
