Rowan University Assistant Vice President for Online Program Portfolio, Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey

Position Description:

Rowan Online seeks a dynamic and entrepreneurial thinking individual possessing college-level administrative experience to serve as the Assistant Vice President for Online Program Portfolio. The goal-oriented AVP is responsible for the development, implementation, and strengthening of high-quality online academic programs, policies and operations. The successful candidate will have excellent communication, project management, strategic planning and technology skills, with experience in academic program development, maintenance, refinement, and assessment. The Assistant Vice President reports directly to the Associate Vice President for Online Operations and is a cultivator of long-lasting relationships with faculty and administration to strengthen success.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interact with the broader community, including academic departments, educational partners, and community business partners, to identify local needs, emerging labor market demands, and areas for potential growth

  • Monitor the creation of statistical studies and market research reports to conduct assessments for new program development opportunities. Research education trends and maintain efficient systems to meet the needs of diverse students in online academic programs

  • Serve as initial academic consult for all new online academic programs being evaluated by and/or offered by Rowan Online in partnership with academic departments

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to develop, implement, and deliver high-quality online programs and related online academic policies

  • Oversee the operations and evaluation processes of online programs in partnership with academic departments.

  • Lead the project management, development, launch, administration, assessment and optimization of online academic programs. Develop methods to track, monitor, and measure the performance of short- and long-term goals.

  • Oversee the quality assurance and maintenance of online academic programs offered by Rowan Online in partnership with academic departments

  • Manage logistical issues and implement best practices to foster high quality academic programming and related policies

  • Supervise and direct the professional staff to successfully initiate, develop, and launch new online programs

  • Lead efforts across different university units (e.g., Marketing, Admissions, Student Affairs, Finance, Instructional Design, academic departments) to manage deliverables and dependencies, address barriers, and ensure all program launch plans are being executed on schedule

  • Develop and oversee reporting, collecting, and maintaining accurate data for program development and maintenance. Regularly report progress on program launch to senior leaders

  • Liaise with university colleges and schools to obtain relevant information and maintain records as needed in support of Rowan Online

  • Organize, and provide as appropriate, workshops on topics supporting online academic operations and program development

  • Participate in budget preparation. Strengthen operations to streamline costs for online academic programs

  • Serve on Councils, internal Committees, and represent Rowan Online on other college committees as needed

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Master’s degree

  • A minimum of five years (5) of experience is required in higher education administration, with evidence as an insightful leader and team builder

  • Experience in planning, organizing, developing, and evaluating academic programs and curriculum to meet diverse students’ needs.

  • Experience with research, assessment, and data analysis and reporting techniques.

  • Strong analytical, project management, and technology skills.

  • Experience with all Microsoft Office Applications - Excel, Word and PowerPoint, plus Google workspace and Webex

  • Strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills

  • Ability to successfully prioritize and facilitate several projects and deadlines independently

  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills, and the ability to present to diverse audiences, specifically racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse communities

  • Preferred Qualifications: Prior senior-level experience in establishing online academic programs
