Context

This role requires a thorough understanding of the operational and financial impact of managing raw and bulk material needs for the European Spirits & Scotch categories, as well as the supply plans to ensure optimal end-to-end inventory, service levels, and cost efficiency. This role interacts with global markets and operates within a complex GBS Supply Chain network servicing 180 countries. It oversees managing bulk & raw material components from multiple suppliers to support European Spirits packaging sites within GBS. The role is part of the European Spirits Category Planning Team and is expected to inform, influence, and drive decisions across Planning, Operations, Procurement, and with Suppliers.

Working with Planning team and in collaboration with Operations, Procurement, Suppliers and Brand Change teams to ensure components’ availability in line with forecast by optimised end-to-end inventory including safety stocks.

Ensuring the clear visibility of raw material requirements in operational to tactical planning horizons to Suppliers, Operations and Procurement.

Delivery of Material Planning balanced suite of KPIs and proactive management of Raw Material requirements, inventory levels and service to markets and from suppliers

Key Performance Indicators relating to this role are:

Business focused specific objective (growth=NSV/GM/volume)

  • CFR for the category

  • Inventory - cash

  • Capacity to Demand ratio adherence for raw materials

  • Innovation transition with no out of stock

  • Cost savings/control (SLOBS, Scrap, airfreight)

  • Material Stock to Norm (within operating windows), Reaction Time, Cycle Time, supplier reliability)

This is with a view to enhance Diageo’s volume, profit and customer service across all markets and supply centres.

The 3 core and overarching critical metrics relating to this role are volume (NSV), CFR, inventory.

Key Accountabilities:

Lead E2E Supply Chain Operational Excellence

  • Owns the capacity models for suppliers in their category and material availability forecasts.

  • Lead Material S&OP for category suppliers.

  • Facilitation of critical issues, decisions and support required from Category S&OE/S&OP.

  • Analysis for Material Inventory Management; including SLOBS.

  • Drives long term material capacity decisions via Long Term Capacity Planning supported by Procurement.

  • Ensures Category planning maturity assessment (TRACC) Excellence.

  • Ensures sufficiency of Category Business Continuity Plans.

  • Engage on any business potential issue to help/lead driving resolution (Quality incident, internal control issue, strike and BCP activation across E2E supply chain, etc.).

  • Optimal material replenishment plan.

  • Analyse replenishment requirements for exceptions and ensure resolution in line with business priorities and generate risk mitigation plans.

  • Coordination of the plan with suppliers, working collaboratively with Procurement to ensure the allocated capacity and required safety stocks are in place for requirements.

  • Materials Inventory Management- optimum stocks of the right components in the right location, maintenance of Safety stock models to support this. Minimising Raw Materials SLOBs, prepare and implement action plans where needed including Provisions planning.

  • Improve end-to-end SC Value between categories, markets, and suppliers.

  • Support Brand Change & Innovation and Planning to ensure activities are completed to agreed timelines without materials issues.

  • Creating proactive visibility and transparency on overall material requirements by trends, inventory projections and risks & opportunities.

Drive optimized supply solution

  • Right supply base with Procurement.

  • Right customization choices to meet markets/customer needs if needed.

  • Address any supply disruption or conflict situation through consensus solution or recommendation for issues.

  • Represent Supply in leading RCCP process, balancing demand and supply signals whilst ensuring strategy and annual targets can be delivered.

Accelerate organization capability development

  • Lead and embed continuous improvement agenda using run to target methodology across multifunctional team enabling effective delivery of performance improvement plans prioritized by business targets.

  • Track progress of maturity improvement plan and course correct to consistently ensure projected benefits are achieved.

  • Coach, mentor, and develop operational, material planning and scheduling teams.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Customer centric mind set (internal and external to Diageo).

  • Hands-on experience and expertise in (Category) S&OP, exposure to Executive senior leaders.

  • Systems experience within supply chain optimization platforms (ERP / master data, time-phased replenishment planning systems).

  • Understand, implement, and sustain global supply planning agenda.

  • Strong understanding of supply chain operational processes within Diageo e.g. demand, I&BC, RCCP, Segmentation, DRP, MPS, MRP, MSM. Have hands-on expertise in DRP, RCCP and at least one of the others.

  • Leadership influencing and partner engagement skills. This includes the ability to challenge senior stakpartners manage tension in demand/supply conversations.

  • Exceptional communication skills – verbal, written and presentation.

  • Champions Run to Target and Root Cause culture and methodology building on visual controls excellence and working effectively across planning functions to eliminate service risk.

  • Master operating strategy design pending on segmentation for their category.

  • Numerate with statistical, and analytical skills and attention to detail (RCCP).

  • High degree of quantitative and analytical skills.

  • High capability to simplify and prioritize what is complicated and/or complex.

  • Pulse on external trends in global supply chains and raw materials.

  • Inductive reasoning

Experience

  • Significant Supply Chain planning experience in CPG.

  • Additionally, some wider cross planning experience preferable e.g. I&BC, DRP, CS, manufacturing

Digital

  • Proficient in MS applications e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

  • Proficient in virtual team applications e.g. zoom, Quip, TRACC

  • Proficient in analytics tools: Power BI, Power Apps, Tableau.

  • Proficient in planning tools: SAP APO, robot, OMP

Demonstrated leadership to build breakthrough supply network capability (service, cost, and cash), supply network design, and/or value creation in the market. Experience should include previous assignment in planning, sourcing, siting and/or integration of systems with greater focus in leading supply network design or improvement/changes for a region or global category. Also, demonstrated ability to manage the external interfaces while influencing the internal interfaces toward supply network improvement to deliver regional or global business critical needs. Operations and/or Market experience a plus.
