Amentum Electrical Engineer (Power Systems) Hybrid in Glasgow City, United Kingdom
Our Defence and Security provide design and engineering services for our nuclear and defence clients across the UK and abroad. Our team is experiencing exciting growth and long-term prospects within our established practice, and we are looking for Electrical engineers with transferable skills who are passionate about developing themselves and in meeting new challenges. We offer hybrid working with 1-2 days in the office. Occasional site visits may be necessary.
About the opportunity:
We are looking to recruit and develop career minded people to bolster our well-established and growing multi-discipline engineering delivery capability to meet opportunities in the nuclear and defence industries. Our projects include developing solutions through all stages in highly regulated environments, in support of air, land and sea defence establishments, the UK nuclear submarine fleet, and both existing and new build nuclear bases.
You will preferably have experience of working in the maritime, nuclear and/or defence industries, but also those with relevant industrial design experience looking to work in a technically challenging environment are welcome to apply.
Performs the assessment and design and monitors ongoing process of a project, including the coordination of the project with project delivery team.
Leading/working with a team of Electrical engineers/designers in developing/reviewing engineering deliverables throughout various stages of the project.
Carrying out site surveys/ condition assessments to determine requirements.
Performs calculations and evaluations in the design of HV/LV systems and equipment for industrial and commercial applications.
Design of associated control and protection systems.
Design of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
Design of electrical interfaces.
Prepare plans and drawings, functional and technical specifications, and contract documents.

Here are some of the needs,
Possess in depth knowledge of the electrical engineering discipline up to 11/33kV.
Experience in HV generation/distribution systems and associated control and protection systems.
Experience in HV/LV network design and analysis and using industry standard software tools (ETAP/AMTECH) including: Load Flow Studies, Cable Calculations, Grading and Protection, Fault studies/Calculations, Arc Flash Calculations, Transient & Stability Calculations, Earthing Studies & Calculations, Equipment location studies (including cable routes)
Experience in preparing technical reports and substantiation of electrical designs.
Commercial awareness.
Experience in a contracting environment, relevant site experience.
Must be a sole UK national and willing to obtain Security Clearance
Professionally qualified (e.g. Chartered/Incorporated) Engineer with a degree/HNC in the relevant Electrical discipline.
