We Are Seeking

An ideal candidate would possess a strong mechanical background and logical reasoning. Some electrical controls experience is highly desirable.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, supplemented by vocational/technical training in electrical technology or a related field, and one year of experience that includes mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance, wastewater collection system maintenance and repair, lift station maintenance and use of a PC and mobile devices. Industries with transferable skills include mining, agriculture, automotive repair and underground construction.

Wastewater lift stations operate 24 hours per day, 7 days per week to convey wastewater to the treatment facilities. The stations are highly automated but do require daily observation and inspection.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Solid mechanical maintenance

  • Intermediate electrical maintenance.

  • Basic electrical pump operations.

  • Intermediate plumbing.

  • Intermediate safety concepts.

  • Basic crane operations & hand signals.

    SKILL IN:

  • Written and verbal communication.

  • Basic computer operations.

  • Basic knowledge of SCADA operation

    Must be able to work in extreme temperatures that are part of the Arizona climate.

Must be available to work a 4-10 schedule within our service hours: Monday - Thursday, 4:30 AM to 3:00 PM. On call, standby is required 1 week out of the month (subject to change). While on-call, work 4 hours overtime each Fri, Sat, & Sun. The work of a lift station technician requires working near wastewater.

The wastewater lift station technician reports directly to a field supervisor and the primary function of the Wastewater Lift Station Technician is to inspect, maintain and repair lift stations and related components to ensure proper operation.

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • 2 years of specialized or technical training beyond high school in mechanical, plumbing/electrical and basic sewer operations.

  • 2 years of on-the-job experience in the same.

  • On-Call Duty - Mandatory

  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

  • Must possess an ADEQ Grade 1 ADEQ Wastewater Collections System Operator certification at time of hire and obtain a Grade 2 ADEQ Wastewater Collections System Operator certification within 1 years of hire;

  • Must possess a class B CDL permit at time of hire and obtain a class B CDL license within 6 months of hire

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Visit, observe, and maintain lift stations daily and equipment

  • Perform preventative maintenance monthly on lift station equipment

  • Generate Lucity work orders daily

  • Attend safety and professional development training when scheduled

  • Confined space entries

  • Exercise valves and ARV maintenance

  • Work with contractors, scheduling major repairs

  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance

  • Other duties as assigned

This position is an At-Will position, FLSA Non-Exempt - eligible for overtime compensation.
