Clinical Interpreter and Transportation Representative

Full-Time, Monday-Friday, Daytime Hours, All Major Holidays off and paid! No Weekends!

Job Title: Clinical Interpreter and Transportation Representative

Reports to:Customer Service Supervisor

Areas of Responsibility:Provides direct interpretation services for patients/families, staff, physicians, and other healthcare providers. Provides transportation services to patients; assists in the implementation of high-quality services to the community.

Major Duties:

  1. Provide direct interpretation during conversations and appointments between patients/clients and healthcare staff, medical providers and healthcare services.
  2. Provide safe transportation for patients to help ensure the patient is provided the opportunity to obtain CAHC healthcare services.
  3. Translate, in Spanish, written material at a level comprehensible to the general public.
  4. Facilitates verbal and written communication between patients/visitors and staff, clarification on medical and clinical procedures, CAHC policies and practices; ensures that information communicated between patient/family and staff is accurate, precise and conveys the intended message.
  5. Assist the limited English proficient patients/families with cross-cultural orientation to understand the nuances of medical care delivery within CAHC and medical community.
  6. Act as a client advocate, coordinating health care services with other appropriate available resources in the community.
  7. Must be willing and able to communicate information of a personal, sensitive nature such as sexual and reproductive health.
  8. Advocate with and on behalf of minority clients to reduce barriers to health care access.
  9. Scan primary care patient medical records, maintain confidentially.
  10. Compile statistics as necessary for the program.
  11. Attend required training and meetings.

Working Conditions:

  • Clinic environment, training, meetings, and community interaction
  • Well-lit, temperature-controlled clinical setting, with standard medical and office equipment available.
  • Fast paced working environment.
  • Will drive in varied weather conditions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, squat, walk and pull drawers.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate office and medical equipment.
  • Must regularly talk, hear, and have close vision ability to record and communicate appropriate documents and records.
  • Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications:

Grade: 12

  1. High School diploma or GED
  2. Fluency in speaking and writing in both Spanish and English
  3. Age 21 or above
  4. Must have a valid drivers license, good driving record and insured vehicle.
  5. Ability to work with culturally diverse groups of people.
  6. Ability to partner with others and offer support without encouraging dependence.

Grade: 13

  1. Meet the minimum qualifications above.

  2. One year of medical interpreting

  3. Medical Interpretation Training Certification program

Grade: 14

  1. Meet the minimum qualifications above.
  2. Three years of medical interpreting and Medical Interpretation Training Certification
