Worker Designation – This role is hybrid. This means you will be expected to report to one of our Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership.

  • Minimum Required Actively pursuing bachelor's or master's degree in related field

Job Summary

  • This internship experience is designed to provide hands-on real-world experience functioning with the Investment Accounting team of Aflac, a Fortune 200 Company. This experience will provide an ability to learn how to evaluate and record journal entries, understand the nature and risks of investments of a diversified portfolio, gain experience with SAP general ledger, and learn FAM Investment Accounting sub-ledger and Workiva reporting systems. The intern selected for this role will accomplish these learning opportunities through on the job training while being an active part of the team involved in Aflac’s monthly and quarterly financial statement close process, and SEC reporting.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance and works on specific projects within the assigned business unit; may assist with ad hoc projects related to the industry, and/or business unit processes

  • Collects, organizes, analyzes, and prepares reports for management; assists team in identifying process improvements

  • Continuously develops analytical, project management, leadership, presentation, and other business skills by involvement in strategic projects and work assignments

  • Receives training and performs duties in assigned business unit to become familiar with division functions, operations, management skills or style, and company policies and practices affecting each phase of business

  • Observes experienced personnel to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures, and standards required for performance of departmental duties

  • Participates in roundtable feedback discussions to interact with other participants and to offer program improvement ideas

  • Performs other duties as required

This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting.  Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate. The salary range for this position is $19.00 to $25.00 per hour.
