Finger Lakes Health RN - Float Pool Critical Care and Med/Surg in Geneva, New York

The Float Pool RN will work in units where assistance is needed. They may be assigned units in the ICU, Med/Surg: 3 North or 2 West, and the ICU. RNs interested in this position must have critical care experience.

Shift: Nights 7 pm-7am (12 hour) shifts with weekend and holiday rotations.

Hours per pay period: 72

Requirements

Education: Bachelors of Nursing from an Accredited School of Registered Professional Nursing.

License: Current NYS RN License

Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS may be acquired through Clinical Orientation. Basic Coronary Care obtained within 6 months of hire. CPI obtained within 1 year of hire into this position. Both CPI and Coronary Care courses are provided through Finger Lakes Health’s Educational Department.

Experience: One year of critical care experience as an RN. One year of float pool experience is preferred

Responsibility Summary

The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high quality compassionate care to patients and families. The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient need, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates the care delivery throughout the patient’s episode. The Registered Nurse on 2 West develops specialized skill in the area of Cardiac Care including telemetry monitoring. The Registered Nurse on 2 West also provides care to adult adolecent and geriatric populations with medical and/or surgical conditions. The 2 West RN is accountable for patient family education to assist in understanding self care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing. The 2 West Registered Nurse is expected to promote comfort and provide emotional support in a Healing Environment. The RN on 3 North develops specialized skill in the area of patient admitted for medical conditions. He/She provides care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations with medical conditions. The 3 North RN is accountable for patient family education to assist in understanding self care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing. The 3 North Registered Nurse is expected to promote comfort and provide emotional support in a Healing Environment. The ICU RN develops a strong working knowledge of life support machines, cardiac monitoring systems and other life preserving medical equipment and nursing interventions essential for a critical care nurse. The ICU RN is accountable for patient family education to assist the patient and family in understanding self care beyond hospitalization including lifestyle changes to support health and healing. The ICU Registered Nurse is expected to promote comfort, and provide emotional support in a healing environment. The ED RN evidences skill in the use of various invasive and non-invasive procedures, treatments, and therapeutic interventions appropriate to manage life-threatening and routine emergency situations. The ED RN utilizes the principles of relationship based care to alieviate anxiety, provide information, and address pain/discomfort and safety. He/She assesses the physiological, psychosocial, emotional, and cultural needs of patients of all age groups, their families, and support systems as appropriate.

Shift Differential of 10% and 5% more for weekends

Hourly Rate of Pay based on Experience: $43.47-$54.38
