Finger Lakes Health Assistant Director of Nursing Emergency Department in Geneva, New York
The Assistant Director has shared oversight with the Director of Critical Care, managing the Emergency Departments at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, in Penn Yan and Geneva General Hospital, in Geneva.
Qualifications:
Masters in Nursing or related field or enrolled in a Masters of Nursing Program. Qualified candidates willing to enroll in a Masters Program may also be considered.
License:
Current NYS license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse
Professional Certifications:
BLS ACLS PALS- if not current, offered during clinical orientation. Basic Coronary Care within six (6) months of hire and offered at Finger Lakes Health. CPI certification within 90 days of hire and available at Finger Lakes Health. TNCC is required within 18 months of hire.
Preferred-Certified Emergency Nursing within one year.
Work Experience:
Two (2) years as an RN in the Emergency Department. One (1) year of management or leadership experience.
Skills:
Moderate sedation competency within six months of hire into this position.
Interpersonal skills which ensure effective communication with staff, patients, families, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team.
Knowledgeable in the area of management systems and processes.
Demonstrated ability to establish effective work relationships in an effort to lead others in the direction of meeting organizational objectives.
Analytical skills to assess departmental needs, develop, and implement planned interventions, and evaluate the effectiveness of applied interventions.
The ability to facilitate project management, work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.
Familiarity with The Joint Commission requirements.
Position Summary:
The Nurse Manager has responsibility for implementation of strategies and activities designed to achieve and support uncompromising quality, exceptional patient safety and outstanding patient / family experience. The Nurse Manager intentionally creates an environment that fosters staff development, staff empowerment, collegial relationships and best practice in the delivery of nursing care. The Nurse Manager allocates resources to promote efficient, effective, compassionate and fiscally responsible nursing care. The Nurse Manager assures the coordination of care across department lines through a focus on systems that promote interdisciplinary collaboration and communication. The Nurse Manager participates in the recruitment, selection and retention of personnel. Assures appropriate orientation, education, credentialing and continuing professional development for personnel accountable to the nurse manager. Responsible for supervision and oversight of the Emergency Department.
Salary: $115,000-$130,000
