What You Can Expect

In this role you will be responsible for the design, development and processing of electromechanical surgical power equipment and instruments. This will involve both the development of new products and the maintenance of existing ones. As a core member of an intercontinental team, you will take the lead on the development aspects of the project.

How You'll Create Impact

  • Leading the development of new products and improvement of existing platforms incl. manufacturing processes, identifying all tasks required to complete project assignments according to design control procedures

  • Preparing work plans outlining estimated staffing requirements and development costs, including recommending project budget and schedule to ensure timely delivery of programs

  • Designing for manufacturability, testability and optimum cost

  • Participating in root cause analysis to solve problems

  • Contribution to the generation of a comprehensive product testing/analysis protocol

  • Coordinating product evaluation with surgeon

  • Preparation of final new product specifications or modification of existing specifications

  • Creating or updating design assurance documentation for the product

  • Conducting stress analysis on new or existing designs

  • Producing and/or managing the production of prototype models to evaluate new design concepts

  • Ensuring pre-production quality requirements are met

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Proven ability to investigate and solve problems methodically

  • Ability to assess own progress on assignments relative to project schedule

  • Capability of handling customer complaints, engineering changes and non-compliant products

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing in English and French including presentation skill

Your Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required, advanced degree desirable

  • Around 3 years of experience in Engineering, preferably in the medical device industry, with a focus on Orthopedics

  • Knowledge of drafting standards and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (CAD Software)

  • Previous work experience in ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 820 and (EU) MDR 2017/745 is an advantage

  • Experience in the development of new products
