Town of Garner Cultural Arts and Events Manager in Garner, North Carolina

The Town of Garner's Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department, a nationally accredited agency in Wake County, North Carolina, is seeking a Cultural Arts and Events Manager to oversee the award-winning Garner Performing Arts center, Town-wide special events, and departmental marketing and sponsorship development. This position will lead the Cultural Arts and Events team comprised of experienced professionals. The successful candidate will have an established track record of engaging the community in arts and theater programs, developing a successful performance series, delivering memorable special events, and cultivating public/private partnerships and sponsorships. Strong interpersonal, critical thinking, and problem solving skills are a must. The selected candidate will join the senior management team of the department providing visionary and innovative leadership.Examples of Duties:Provides leadership and long-range planning for the Garner Performing Arts Center and Town special events such as Independence Day Celebration, Light Up Main, the Christmas Parade and Eggstravaganza; develops vision for future growth and use of the Center and of Town special events.Manages all aspects of Center operations; recruits, interviews, hires, trains, motivates and supervises staff; provides performance coaching and evaluation with assigned full-time staff; determines coverage needs and schedules facility attendants and custodial staff to cover events; accessible for the occasional evening and weekend facility and program emergency response;Manages the planning and implementation of town-wide special events; develops and monitors budgets, timelines, site maps and contracts; coordinates details with other Town departments; present day of the event to assure smooth-running operations and provide on-site problem solving; Supervises Events Coordinator and their efforts planning, organizing, and implementing Town-wide special events;Supervises Theater and Marketing Supervisor and through him/her the part-time techs; makes certain that all front-end technical needs of the renters are ascertained and addressed in a timely fashion;Responsible for departmental marketing efforts including creation of bi-annual brochure, social media, website, banners, flyers, coordinating marketing events and information tables, coordinating with other teams and Town Communications Manager;Oversees art programming for the Town at the Garner Performing Arts Center and in the community, including art education, visual and performing arts, public art, develops vision for future growth and promotion;Researches different types of events and shows of potential interest for residents; works with citizens, businesses and local groups; obtains sponsors; solicits corporations and individuals; oversees entertainment of sponsors and other dignitaries; prepares grant requests.Books and promotes performance series and Town events; attends booking conferences; negotiates with agents and managers to secure and finalize contracts; develops media contacts and relationships with promoters and arts groups; designs marketing plans for newspaper, radio, social networking and grassroots campaigns; oversees the development of season brochures and the design of playbills; visits community groups to make presentations.Oversees the production of shows including "front of the house", backstage, volunteers, and other areas; ensures technical coordination through subordinate staff including lighting, sound, and multi-media productions and equipment.Provides information and support to a variety of community groups and other public and private agencies, such as the Towne Players of Garner, Downtown Garner Association, Garner Chamber of Commerce, other groups and partners;Maintains working relationships with Olde School Commons apartment management and residents; works with and assists other departments using the auditorium for special events;Prepares and administers departmental operat
