Job Summary:
The Manager, Benefits and HR Service Center is responsible for managing all aspects of the HR Benefits & Business Service Center (HRBBC) at UTMB. The HRBBC responds to employee and retiree questions and requests for information regarding all benefits, including retirement, PTO, and medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Benefitfocus Benefits Administration Platform
Experience with UT System Benefits plans and offerings.
Customer Service Management Experience in a Call Center Environment
Job Duties:
Manages the work of the HRBBC employees, including setting goals and expectations, addressingescalated issues or questions, and ensuring quality and timeliness in work delivery
Provides coaching and feedback to HRBBC employees, and ensures adequate staffing and coverage
Creates, updates, and monitors adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and service levelagreements (SLAs) to ensure timeliness and quality of responses to inquiries
Develops and maintains accurate information within the Human Capital Management System (HCMERP) and HR Benefits & Business Center Case Management Systems
Responsible for ensuring proactive measures are in place for business continuity within the area
Develop and implement projects and programs for operational and process improvement
Works collaboratively with the University of Texas System Office of Employee Benefits to ensure thatbenefits plans are administered in accordance with UT System Regents Rules and Regulations, as wellas federal and state requirements
Demonstrates advanced working knowledge of plan regulations, policy, provisions, and trends
Reviews and audits databases. Ensures continual updates to knowledge databases for use byspecialists and employee self-service
Regularly monitors key data related to accuracy, level of service, efficiency, and policy compliance
Serves as principal contact for payroll and other dependent department processes
Provides support for UTMB’s annual open enrollment process for benefits
Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
Performs related duties as required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Experience in PeopleSoft HCM and substantial knowledge of PS-HCM data structures/modules and
MS-Excel
Ability to perform tasks on own initiative with minimal direction
Ability to manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines and use critical thinking skills to make
decisions with minimal guidance
Strong attention to detail, ability to appropriately handle confidential information, and strong
problem resolution skills
Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to train/mentor Human Resources Representatives and Specialists
Must be comfortable and proficient in working with various business partners in HR, Benefits,
Compensation, Payroll and Information Services
Salary Range:
Actual salary commensurate with experience.
Work Schedule:
Partial Remote, onsite as needed. Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, and as needed on occasion.
