Job Description:

The Department of Ophthalmology has an immediate opening for an OPS Research Assistant in the laboratory of Dr. Qiuhong Li to assist with bench work and data analysis for ongoing vision research.

Responsibilities include performing in vivo measurements such as ERG, OCT, and fundoscopy to characterize the therapeutic effects of gene delivery in rodents, maintaining mouse colonies, preparation for animal procedures, tissue sample collection, as well as tissue sectioning, histology, Western blotting and immunostaining procedures, molecular and cellular assays, as well as analysis of serum and retinal samples from animal studies.

Advertised Salary:

$15.00-$25.00 per hour

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Science, Biology, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be a recent college graduate seeking a solid background in biological sciences to prepare for medical, veterinary or graduate school. The incumbent will be trained by and work under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI).

The ideal candidate should also be a self-driven, fast learner with strong quantitative mind, with an interest and experience performing laboratory both bench work and data analysis. Experience with mouse handling and ocular procedures is desired.
