Job Description:
The Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships is seeking a creative and strategic Marketing and Communications Specialist II to lead the development and implementation of communications for the office. This role is responsible for designing high-quality visual content for print and digital platforms, managing email campaigns, and overseeing social media strategies to promote financial aid information, deadlines, and events. You will also manage the production of brochures, flyers, and other materials, ensuring timely and accurate distribution. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors to enhance communication efforts, engage students and families, and ensure a cohesive messaging strategy across all platforms.
Communications & Design
Develops and implements a strategic communications plan for the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships (SFA), including email campaigns focused on financial aid disbursements, deadlines, and general information
Designs high-quality visual content for both print and electronic communications to enhance outreach efforts
Manages the production and distribution of print materials, such as brochures, flyers, and postcards, ensuring timely and accurate communication
Coordinates with vendors for data management, printing specifications, proofs, and mailing logistics, including estimating quantities and obtaining price quotes
Develop and oversee social media campaigns to promote financial aid information, deadlines, and initiatives, such as Financial Wellness Month, increasing student awareness and engagement
Regularly update and maintain the primary SFA website using WordPress, ensuring all content is accurate, timely, and aligned with the latest financial aid updates
Actively engage with students across social media platforms, addressing inquiries and fostering community engagement around financial aid topics
Event Promotion
Plan and execute promotional activities for financial aid events, including the FAFSA Extravaganza, First-Gen Day, and Study Abroad Fair
Collaborate with campus partners to coordinate event logistics and ensure successful execution
Develop and update communication plans, designing promotional materials like digital signage, posters, and social media posts to effectively promote event details
Other Duties
Supervise and mentor student assistants, providing guidance and support
Act as a liaison with other communication departments across campus, fostering collaboration and consistency in messaging
Participate in professional development workshops to stay current on industry trends and enhance communication strategies
This position is located at the University of Florida's main campus in Gainesville, FL and may be eligible for a flexible, hybrid work arrangement in accordance with the University of Florida and Division of Enrollment Management's policies.
Expected Salary:
$65,000 annually

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and four years of relevant experience; or an associate degree and six years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or graphic arts
Strong experience in editing, copywriting, and marketing through various channels
Strong design skills with proficiency in creating marketing materials using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or Canva
Experience with email marketing platforms and CRM systems
Familiarity with social media content creation and digital marketing strategies to promote events
Knowledge of student financial aid processes and terminology
Proficiency in WordPress for website updates and content management
Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple events and deadlines simultaneously.
